Week 88: The Ambaru, Coffee Shop By Accident

Hello, coffee lover in Hive... what coffee are you enjoying today?

Today I was reading a weekly prompt for The Coffee Shop Prompt and then my mind was thrown to a few months ago when I was traveling with my friend Zaza to Semarang. It seems like I've told my friends so many times that I really like the city of Semarang. This just happened since after high school.

There's no history that can make me attached to this city actually, but I just like it since I know someone I like studying in one of the universities in the city. Of course he's not my boyfriend, I just like him, and then there's also the fact that I like the city he's studying in. Does that make sense?

However, what I want to tell you today is not about my crush, but the experience when I got 'lost' while trying to find a coffee shop. Initially, Zaza and I just wanted to walk around the city. We walked around and left the hotel around 5pm, that time. However, because we kept walking and forgot our original destination, we ended up getting late and when we realized we had missed the coffee shop we wanted to visit. We just laughed together at that time. I don't know why we were so random.

Initially, we deliberated whether to go back to the cafe at our original destination, or just continue walking forward and stop at a cafe that was closest to our current point? In the end, we decided on the latter. Although it was already dark, Semarang is one of Central Java's vibrant cities. So, we didn't have to worry about being alone on a motorcycle.

You know how cool intuition is? Finally, not long after we moved, there was a coffee shop that was quite hidden. How did we find it? Of course, it was because we had the maps app, and we searched for the nearest coffee shop. So, we didn't regret our trip that night.

After arriving and putting the motorbike in the parking lot, we laughed again remembering the exciting things that had just happened. Before long, we chose a seat that was empty. You know, this café was packed! Lots of young people gathered both in small groups and large groups. This cafe is located in the highland area of Semarang, namely the Tembalang area. There is also a famous university in the area, so, naturally, this place is very crowded. Not to mention, it was a sunny night, so many visitors chose to sit outside while looking at the clear night sky of Semarang.

I ordered a Latte and Zaza ordered a Macchiato with a piece of lotus cheescake. I didn't order the cake because I didn't feel like it. The service was friendly and the place was neat and spacious. So, I'm very grateful for getting lost. LOL

The fun thing about traveling is, when we find new experiences, unexpected places because of 'misreading the maps' ha ha ha.
We sat there for quite a while, because the ambiance was really nice. After all, it was vacation, so I wanted to relax and enjoy whatever moment happened at that moment.

The Ambaru, a coffee shop that I found by accident. It's fun, the coffee is good, and the place is cool. Maybe one day when I visit Semarang again, I will return to this place too.

Thank you for reading my writing. See you...
