A Glass of Espresso and a Big Idea

While sipping arabica espresso coffee, I open the internet. Read a lot of things related to the past and human achievements in the modern era.

In Central Java, humans have built the Borobudur Temple which is recorded as one of the wonders of the world. In China, the Great Wall of China, which was built on a mountain ridge, is also a human masterpiece of the past that still exists today.

The two large objects, are the smallest pieces of human masterpieces in the past, when they lived not yet connected by the internet. In fact, at that time, let alone airplanes, steamships had not been invented.

Humans are constantly moving to conquer the times. Every period of civilization, always creates something new, which becomes a master piece in its era.

Aceh, after Islam entered, turned into a big country in Asia. It is noted as one of the spices that is known to foreign countries. It also invited Europeans such as the Portuguese, Dutch, and the United States to anchor in Aceh.

Pepper, pepper, nutmeg are very well-known commodities and were traded in major ports in the heyday of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam and Samudera Pasai.
Only after that, the Netherlands looked at natural resources such as oil, gold, and natural gas.

In the Gayo Highlands, the Dutch also developed coffee and pine resin plantations.
Regarding gayo coffee, there are many different opinions in the literature about its origin. But the majority agreed that the robusta and arabica grown there were brought by the Dutch.

People with big visions are always looking for ways to take advantage of the natural resources that God has provided on earth. The difficulties they face, make them fight harder, and create innovations.

We can argue about why China built the Great Wall on top of a mountain ridge. Do you just want to be recognized as having a magnificent building at that time? Why did the ancient Javanese government establish Borobudur Temple? Is it simply to have a place to worship their god?

Of course not. What is built, aims for the long term. They want to be remembered as the best generation that ever existed on earth.

Me too. While sipping coffee at least twice a day, always be in a state of reading or looking for something on the internet. I want to find something that can be an inspiration, so that ideas for writing are sharper and more abundant.

For me, the best coffee is coffee that can bring comfort, as well as give peace. Only certain coffee shops can provide these two things. Even though there are so many warkop in Aceh.

The United States of America being a very powerful country, was not built in one day. It took a long war against British domination. They want to be a new identity outside the UK.

Likewise Mainland China, growing into a strong country, after choosing to focus on building its economy, rather than constantly forcing Taiwan to join them in the one China concept.

Then, what about Indonesia? This country is full of petty politicians with short aspirations. Indonesia is inhabited by military officers who just want to be in power. This country is ruled by a generation of mentally ill who think only for one period of life.

Indonesia, as a large country, with a population of hundreds of millions, only dreams of once every five years. No long term plans. All political parties only care about power. They don't really pay attention to Indonesia, which has to live hundreds of years into the future as a big country.

Writers like me, can only grumble behind a laptop. Write anything while sipping a cup of coffee. That's all I can do for now, while enjoying the madness of politicians and bureaucrats, who can only blame the United States, and China for their every inability to build Indonesia.
