COFFEE CONTEST: In Celebration of Int'l Coffee Day

Hi, coffee lovers!

I'm sure that part of the fluids in my body are coffee. Coffee influences my thoughts, my feelings, and how active I am on a regular day. And yet, I didn't know it had a special day until I saw the post for this contest here on Hive πŸ™ˆ Perhaps you want to join in 😁

Alright, my favorite coffee companion is my husband, but that's too long a story to share on a post; besides, he likes his privacy, so._

Coffee bring us together!

My birthday, August 2023

To my only son, whom I haven't hugged since October, 2017._

It breaks my heart that you're not in this picture. Your face, my favorite face among all faces, is missing because you're in another country. We had coffee and talked about how lucky you are to have been able to go in search of a better future and to be able to achieve it little by little with a lot of study and work. Your aunts and cousins think you're very lucky, and I can't help but think how lucky they are to be together every birthday and every Christmas. Today was my birthday and like every birthday for the last six years, I hope that we'll be together for the next one. I guess we'll have a fun talk like always, over steaming black coffee, but this time I'll see the face of a young man who only yesterday was a boy afraid of making a wrong turn at the airport and missing his flight. Love you so much. Miss you so much.

August 4th, 2023.

Every time I take stray kittens to be spayed or neutered, I bring coffee to the place and we have a good time talking and drinking coffee. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of those moments because my attention is on so many things (picking up supplies, catching the kittens and making sure they don't run away, etc...) and so I tend to take the coffee for granted. But really, how important it is. There are people who come from far away to have their companion cats sterilized for a price they can afford; many of them wait nervously, fearing for the welfare of their kittens; they smile when I offer them coffee and their anxiety goes down immediately. Coffe magic.

Random coffee & cat lover:

Coffee time is me time. It doesn't mean much when you have cats. Me time is always cat time, time for petting. Then it follows that coffee time is cat time. And it's OK. I have my first coffee by myself; I wake up before my husband does, grind and brew some coffee and sit at the table in the yard or in the kitchen. I take this moment in silence to think, plan my day, and work on my Hive blog; my cats help me feel relaxed. They contribute a lot to my concentration and healthy state of mind. Coffee & cats is the key for my good morning. We need to get together soon and chat for a while over a delicious coffee while you help me pet Horacia; she can never have enough petting. Four hands caressing her would be the right measure. See you soon, random coffee & cat lover!

I'm not one of those people who associate all special days with commercial interest. Instead, I'm one of those who will take the opportunity to give myself the time to feel and determine what my emotions are about it. Then I live and let live. An International Coffee Day means, then, that I'll pour myself a cup of coffee and ask--to the coffee inside my cup--What's so special about you, my dear?

To coffee:

So what's so special about you? As usual, we're super busy my coffee companions and I: My sisters and I have super tight schedules. We all have at least two jobs. Sometimes a birthday celebration has to be postponed for up to two weeks in order to get the family together. BUT, when it comes to sharing a cup of coffee, we're there, and our children, those who are still in the country, make an effort to be there too. We talk about the books we are reading, which TV series are really worthwhile, we catch up on our personal lives, but most of all, we set the date for the next coffee meeting because we come up with such wonderful and silly ideas about life, happiness and money. I guess you taste good, smell good, feel good, and make us feel like whatever happens, we can always get together around you and make some progress, no matter how silly. You bring us together. You are really special. Have a happy International Day yourself, dear Coffee!
