Reflecting on My Family's Perspective About Working Remotely

Presently, remote jobs are the best jobs we can ever have because remote jobs have more free time the ability to manage costs, and less work life. Most people in tech tend to prefer to work remotely because remote work gives focus and increases performance. Although some people see remote jobs as distractions to performance and less productivity, but the most significant role of remote jobs is the ability to balance work and home life easily.

Growing up in a Nigerian home has been inspiring and culturally educative. We are often told to learn the footsteps of the older ones and through this, we can gain our balance in life. My Dad being an Engineer and My mum a civilian police often encourage us to work hard to be better than them. Like my dad often says “hard work is the key to success”. My dad's perspective about occupation and career does not center around working from home. I understand his experience and understanding of life's journey to be on the outside because engineers tend to work harder to earn more income. Most time when I explain to my dad I work from home he finds it hard to believe me, sometimes he thinks I joke about my remote work or probably learn new skills to improve my knowledge in this modern world.

Presently I work on Hive, and thanks to @moremoney28 I have been taught and encouraged on the ways of Hive. However, since am not up to a year on Hive my account is still growing and I aspire to also be a big curator on Hive to assist other people just the same way I have been supported. I also work from home as a Ui/Ux Designer, I understand the use of Figma software to edit and design standard apps, websites, and digital products. Explaining all these characteristics to my dad makes him skeptical about the positive impact it will have on my growth and finances.

My mom understands the positive impact of being a writer and the potential in it, and she encourages me on it. Sometimes she tends to doubt the potential of high financial benefits, but I encourage her on the future potential it will acquire for me especially being crypto-supported. My mom understands the future of technology, she understands that the world is advancing into a digital lifestyle, and she also encourages me to learn other skills to support myself.

This goes for a lot of friends I have, thoughts like this have also affected them at home. I know of some programmers and backend engineers who work from home and still have this same problem with their parents, I think this is because some of our parents like mine have not been updated on the new digital tools and lifestyles. It took my dad time to truly believe I work from home. It was after he started seeing some steady focus, discord meetings, and consistent earnings that is when we understood that I worked from home. Now he encourages me to learn cyber security because he explained to him how his son works with this career abroad and earns massively.

Presently, I enjoy working from home and I look forward to acquiring more skills that will also make me work and earn from home. I feel this is the best digital lifestyle we can ever have. Working remotely allows us to balance our work life and home life perfectly.
