POBphotocontest New Round: years in the making ~ GREEN

Who doesn't like the color green? Green is the color of life.

Our sole existence depends on this color. Years ago I planted Black Walnut trees. In the beginning, there were loads of things to do for these magnificent trees to get off to a good start. Now that they are established the only thing that needs to be done is to trim the tree twice a year, once in the winter and again after the leaves have arrived. In this picture, I'm trimming this Black walnut to establish a central leader. With the trees reaching for the heavens I needed to rent a lift to gain access to the very top of the tree.

As the branches continue to grow a canopy shades the ground below.

I would expect that within the next 5 years,
the canopy will shade the entire floor of the plantation.

I took this picture from high above the forest floor

while perched in the telescopic bucket.

This is the largest of the trees. It took every inch of the lift for my son to reach the topmost part of this walnut tree.

This last picture has very little green in it.

It was taken the first year we planted these trees, almost 12 years ago.
