For years I have thought about the idea of tokenizing my autograph collectible COA (Certificate of Authenticity). Now that this is an easy thing to do, should I?
Examples :
- I have a signed item that I have a personally had autographed and created a COA for it.
- I have an item was already signed and came with a COA already.
- I have an item/signature that I authenticated and created a COA for.
COAs are not just for signatures, but they make up most of the COAs I make.
Digitalization of COAs is not a new idea. Many companies offer a code with their COAs that can be used to look up the information of said COA/item online via a database. This is usually a simple search bar on their website.
A COA NFT would essentially be a collectible connected to a tangible item. The COA NFT would be difficult to fake but the connected item would need to be properly photographed, down to the smallest ding or crease, and said photographs would need to be part of the NFT as well.
NFTs are essentially COAs already.
At this time, I see COA NFTs being less practical than they could be in the future once the tech has developed and adapted further. These COA NFTs would also have to fulfil certain legal requirements for COAs in some regions.
