Boxing Day. What does it stands for?

Happy boxing day Hivers.
It's a beautiful day to be alive and to witness another Christmas season. 26th of December is usually regarded as boxing day. As a young lad, I was curious to know what boxing day would mean. Unfortunately, nobody was kind enough to put me through thereby, I grew up with this false belief that it is a day where people fight and throw punches at each other.

However, I realized recently that boxing day is a day where gifts are put in a box for people. It's a day where gifts are boxed to friends and family members.
According to Wikipedia

Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated after Christmas Day, occurring on the second or third day of Christmastide.[1] Though it originated as a holiday to give gifts to the poor, today Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday. It originated in the United Kingdom and is celebrated in several countries that previously formed part of the British Empire. Boxing Day is the 27th and the 26th is Christmas Sunday. The attached bank holiday or public holiday may take place either on that day or one or two days later (if necessary to ensure it falls on a weekday). Boxing Day is also concurrent with the Christian holiday Saint Stephen's Day. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day)

Having known what a boxing day is, how do you intend to mark it. Remember, that there are poor people in the streets and Homes, they need gifts as well. So do well to visit them and surprise them with those beautiful gifts wrapped in a box.

Thank you.
