Hello hive families,
It's a good time and an exciting moment I am experiencing right now as its gladdens me to have gotten an opportunity to to broadly discuss about my country, the giant of Africa. The giant of Africa is located in the west Africa with a population of two hundred and twenty million and over fifty tribes and languages couple cultural and religious diversity. This so call giant of Africa is naturally blessed with numerous natural resources and it is divided into six geopolitical zones namely
- Southwest
- South east
- North west
- North west
- South south and
- North central.
Furthermore, the giant of Africa comprises thirty six states.
Moreso, the giant of Africa is also blessed with resourceful scholars in all aspect of knowledge, innovation and development as well as fertile land for cultivation as well as pastoral land. Amazingly, this giant of Africa is Nigeria, my country.
Nigeria is also 923,758 square kilometers by land mass which is approximately 356,669 square miles.
The land of countless divine blessings and excellence. Besides all these, my dear country is still naturally blessed with a stable and moderate weather condition. Sadly, with all these natural blessings, life is still miserable for about eighty percent of Nigerian citizens because of greediness, corruption and bad governance. A nation wide protest which is tagged End bad governance is currently going on.
My people, let me proceed to discussing the weather condition of my dear country Nigeria.
Geographically, the equatorial position of Nigeria has researched and discovered to be between latitudes 4⁰ and 14⁰ North and longitudes 3⁰ and 15⁰ East, this has provided a balanced weather condition making most Nigerian state not extremely hot and cold which has also eventually created a diverse climatic zones and has already influence our daily commitment such as agriculture.
Luckily, I am currently living in Ibadan city, the largest city in West Africa. Ibadan city is located in one of the Nigerian states called Oyo state. Oyo state is one of the states in southwest geopolitical zones which is among the geopolitical zones I have aforementioned. The southwest geopolitical zone also comprises of another five states along with Oyo state and they are
- Osun state
- The famous Lagos state
- Ogun state
- Ondo state and
- Ekiti state.
Weather conditions in all the states in the southwest varies, at times they are the same while sometimes it may differs from one state to another. For instance, Ondo and ekiti state usually record more temperature and rainfall than other south western states in Nigeria while some part of Osun state record more coldness especially in harmattan seasons. As an ibadan base Nigerian citizen, I haven't not had the opportunity of travelling to many states and all geopolitical zones in Nigeria and since it is obvious and affirm that weather condition differs from a place or state in Nigeria to another, I will be discussing the weather condition of my location i.e ibadan in Oyo state, Nigeria. I can say that, weather in Ibadan fluctuates I mean it is not stable, at times it may be cool and sometimes it may be hot.
In this month of August, we are expecting heavy rain but it's unfortunate that since the beginning of this month, rain has just drizzles for once and this has had negative impact on agriculture. Most times, especially since this month has started I can say the weather is moderate it is neither hot nor cold. Neither People have not been wearing sweater because of coldness nor they have been carrying their electric fans along whenever they are going to anywhere. Also, livestocks have not been dieing of extreme cold weather. So, this weather right now here has been favourable to some profession and has not been favourable to some like the farmers that has cultivated. Furthermore, ibadan is also free from strong and destructive wind, air blows normally hat is the reason it is called the pacesetter.
