Collecting second hands for Ukraine

Roll out the networks, get the people to check what they have, and collect and give to where it is needed. It was a great week for getting the network to work and make a house liveable for people who will be needing it.

A girl from my sport class told us all earlier in the week she has a little house in the garden normally for family to come over. She is foreign and also her kids live far away. So super kudos she told us this week that the little house will soon be the temporary residency of Ukrainean refugees. Talking about making the space useful.

And only then you realize how powerful the networks are. With asking some people for the missing pieces from the little house (having a weekend people over requires different stuff than actually having residing people in there) some whatsapp groups are activated.

Because with the 'six degrees of separation' (you know, that in where is said that literally everyone knows each other in six steps, when you put it to work has a gigantic network, and that is how you get stuff done. And...people are hoarders from nature, and dont like to throw stuff out

It is not clear as yet what kind of family will be in there. But I can only imagine that when we know what age the kids in there will have, when I put my network to work with all young mothers who are around me, I can imagine that we will collect a full summer and winter wardrobe for these youngsters in no time.

Yes, it is futile and only a drip of the issue and not a solution at all, but these are the small things we can do as small fishies in the pond. Collect and spread and do what we can in our own range.

So the majority of the prepations are then done and once they are there, then we can make them feel welcome with stuff to live a normal life with. Without a doubt in my mind I realize that this traumatizing event 'isnt going away then all of a sudden'. Because the mental part of fleeing your country because of war is a whole different ballgame. Unfortunately we can't take that terrible aspect away.

But what we can do, is let our networks do what they should and collect stuff. I know after the hurricane I was happy with having 'a sort of normal house again', lets try to pass this forward for a little bit.
