The topic of the security of our Hive accounts is of vital importance and that is why I dedicated several posts to it. Among them I talked about Hive account theft or hacking and with a view to securing your account with key managers, I published Understanding Hivesigner - Security Guide and also Understanding Hive Keychain - Security Guide.
Hive Keychain is, in my opinion, one of the best tools for Hive users. Not only because of its practicality in the management of keys and the security it offers, but also because it includes other resources that are very useful, such as its utility as a wallet, which allows you to perform from its window practically all possible operations, as well as automate some tasks, vote the witnesses and make some transactions with the different tokens available through Hive Engine.
And precisely to know the possibilities it offers us, is that today we are going to dive into the Keychain and learn how to take full advantage of it.
I wanted to include in a single post the review about the extension and about the mobile version. But as I like to make it as detailed as possible, it turned out to be too long. So I will review the mobile version soon.
El tema de la seguridad de nuestras cuentas en Hive, es de vital importancia y por eso le dediqué varias publicaciones. Entre ellas hablé de EL robo de tu cuenta o "hackeo" en Hive y con miras a asegurar tu cuenta con administradores de claves, publiqué Entendiendo Hivesigner - Guía de seguridad y también Comprender el Llavero de Hive (Hive Keychain) - Guía de seguridad.
Hive Keychain es, en mi criterio, una de las mejores herramientas para quienes usamos Hive. No solo por lo práctica que resulta en la administración de las llaves y la seguridad que ofrece, sino porque incluye otros recursos que son de mucha utilidad, como lo son su utilidad como monedero, que te permite realizar desde su ventana prácticamente todas las operaciones posibles, así como automatizar algunas tareas, votar los testigos y hacer algunas transacciones con los distintos tokens disponibles a través de Hive Engine.
Y precisamente para conocer las posibilidades que nos ofrece, es que hoy vamos a sumergirnos en la Keychain y aprender a aprovecharla al máximo.
Yo quería incluir en un solo post la reseña sobre la extensión y sobre la versión móvil. Pero como me gusta hacerlo lo más detallado posible, resultó ser demasiado largo. Así que la versión móvil la analizaré próximamente.

Diving into the extension || Profundizando en la extensión
At this point you should already have the Hive Keychain extension installed and configured, if not read this first.
The first step will be to open the extension, which is usually located on the top right side of our browser and then enter our custom key.
En este punto ya debes tener instalada y configurada la extensión de Hive Keychain, sino es así lee esto primero.
El primer paso será abrir la extensión, que suele estar ubicada en el lado derecho superior de nuestro navegador y luego introducir la nuestra clave personalizada.
Once the password is set, we enter and we find the first screen, where we will have all the options menu. Which in its highest part, gives us the option to claim pending rewards (if we have them, the gift box appears, otherwise only the "Logout" and "Settings" buttons appear.
Una vez colocada la clave, entramos y nos encontramos con la primera pantalla, donde tendremos todo el menú de opciones. El cual en su parte más alta, nos da la opción de reclamar recompensas pendientes (si las tenemos aparece la cajita de regalos, en caso contrario solo aparecen los botones de "Cerrar sesión" y "Configuración".
The option to claim the rewards will take us to a screen, in which we are asked to confirm, to claim them, or leave it for another occasion.
But there is the possibility of automating this task, which I will explain later.
La opción de reclamar las recompensas nos llevará a una pantalla, en la cual nos pide confirmación de "Claim", para reclamarlas, o dejarlo para otra ocasión.
The option to claim the rewards will take us to a screen, in which we are asked to confirm, to claim them, or leave it for another occasion.
For practical purposes, I am using screenshots of the English extension here, however, there are translations into multiple languages, so it is possible that your version will be in your own language, which will make it easier to use.
By clicking on the "hamburger menu" on the main screen, we will be taken to the settings, which presents us with the following options.
Por cuestiones prácticas, yo estoy utilizando acá capturas de pantalla de la extensión en inglés, sin embargo, existen las traducciones a múltiples idiomas, por lo cual es seguro que tu versión esté en tu propio idioma, lo cual te facilitará su uso.
Al oprimir el "menú de hamburgesa" en la pantalla principal, seremos llevados a la configuración, que nos presenta las siguientes opciones.
Add account || Agregar cuenta
When we manage more than one account in Hive, be it communities, curation, etc. here we have the opportunity to add them, which we will do in the same way we initially registered our main account.
Cuando manejamos más de una cuenta en Hive, ya sea de comunidades, de curación, etc. aquí tenemos la oportunidad de agregarlas, lo cual haremos de la misma manera que registramos inicialmente nuestra cuenta principal.
Manage account || Gestionar cuentas
Here is where we can add the different keys for each of our accounts. We also have the possibility to see the QR code to import this data in the mobile version.
And we also have the possibility to delete from Keychain the accounts that we are no longer using.
Where our user name is, there is a menu to choose the different accounts we have registered and to add new ones.
Aquí es donde podemos agregar las distintas claves para cada una de nuestras cuentas. Así mismo tenemos la posibilidad de ver el código QR para importar estos datos en la versión móvil.
Y también tenemos la posibilidad de eliminar de Keychain las cuentas que ya no estemos usando.
Donde está nuestro nombre de usuario es un menú para escoger las distintas cuentas que tenemos registradas y para agregar nuevas.

Change password || Cambiar la clave
To change our custom Keychain password, we must enter the old password and then enter the new one twice.
Para cambiar nuestra clave personalizada para Keychain, debemos ingresa la vieja clave y luego introducir dos veces la nueva.
Preferences || Preferencias
In the following screen we have the option to select the active RPC node for the retrieval of information from Hive, because sometimes some of them are faulty. Unless you understand what this is about and need to make an adjustment, the best option is "Default".
In the mobile version, the operations for which you have instructed Keychain not to ask for verification are also indicated here, but actually in this version it doesn't show.
Remember that every time you are going to make an operation with this tool, Keychain asks you for confirmation. But there are some of them in which you can, by selecting the corresponding checkbox, tell Keychain NOT to ask for confirmation for that type of operation.
Although the space appears here, the extension currently does not show those operations.
En la siguiente pantalla tenemos la opción de seleccionar el nodo RPC activo para la extracción de la información de Hive, debido a que en ocasiones algunos de ellos presentan fallas. A menos que entiendas bien de qué se trata esto y necesitas hacer un ajuste, la mejor opción es "Default".
En la versión móvil también aparecen indicadas acá las operaciones para las cuales le has indicado a Keychain que no te pida verificación.
Recuerda que cada vez que vas a hacer una operación con esta herramienta, Keychain te pide la confirmación. Pero hay algunas de ellas en las cuales puedes, mediante la selección de la casilla correspondiente, indicarle que NO te pida confirmación para ese tipo de operación.
Aunque acá aparece el espacio, la extensión actualmente no muestra esas operaciones.

Autolock || Autobloqueo
By default, once we close the browser, Keychain locks and to use it again, we must re-enter our custom password. This option can be modified and set as an alternative, that it locks every time the computer does it or you can indicate a certain time in minutes.
Por defecto, una vez que cerramos el navegador, Keychain se bloquea y para volver a usarlo, debemos volver a introducir nuestra clave personalizada. Esta opción se puede modificar y colocar como alternativa, que se bloquee cada vez que el equipo lo hace o puedes indicar un tiempo determinado en minutos.
Keychainify
There are many pre-made links in Hive, to complete actions by using Hivesigner. Links to delegate HP to different projects, direct links to vote for certain witnesses, to transfer money, etc. These usually take you to Hivesigner and usually look like this:
With the activation of the option on the next screen, Keychain will interpret the command and take care of completing the action, instead of going to Hivesigner. Therefore when you click on the appropriate links, the Keychain confirmation window will appear.
I must confess that I have not tested this option, however it looks like an interesting alternative.
By default this option is inactive. If you want to use it you will have to check the box.
Existen en Hive muchos enlaces preelaborados, para completar acciones mediante el uso de Hivesigner. Enlaces para delegar HP a diferentes proyectos, enlaces directos para votar por determinados testigos, para transferir dinero, etc. Estos suelen llevarte a Hivesigner y suelen tener un aspecto como este:
Con la activación de la opción en la siguiente pantalla, Keychain interpretará el comando y se encargará de completar la acción, en lugar de ir a Hivesigner. Por lo tanto al hacer clic en los enlaces adecuados, aparecerá la ventana de confirmación de Keychain.
Debo confesar que no he probado esta opción, sin embargo se ve como una alternativa interesante.
Por defecto esta opción viene inactiva. Si deseas usarla deberás seleccionar la casilla.
Import/Export || Importar/Exportar
The import/export option refers to the encrypted data of our accounts and keys. This is particularly useful if you manage many accounts, as setting up Keychain with so many keys can be cumbersome. In this way we initially export a file containing all the information and then we can import it, either in another browser, on another computer, on the mobile or simply save it as a backup, in case we need to reinstall Keychain.
La opción de importar/exportar se refiere a los datos codificados de nuestras cuentas y claves. Esto es particularmente útil si manejas muchas cuentas, pues configurar Keychain con tantas claves, puede ser engorroso. De esta manera exportamos inicialmente un archivo en el que está toda la información y luego podemos importarlas, ya sea en otro navegador, en otra computador, en el móvil o simplemente guardarla de respaldo, para el caso que necesitemos reinstalar Keychain.
Automated tasks || Tareas automatizadas
Claim reward
The rewards we receive in Hive, both author and curation, do not go directly into our wallet, we must claim them so that they become part of our real capital. As long as this does not happen, the HP that could have increased with this, does not and therefore we lose... In many occasions we forget to claim our rewards and for that reason we miss out on benefits. It is possible to automate this action and have Keychain be aware of claiming our rewards every hour.
This first box should be checked so that you can always count on your full funds!
Claim accounts
For those who have a high HP and have a lot of Resource Credits or RC, there is the possibility to claim Hive accounts. For this action the user needs about 4 billion (at the time I am writing this) and to have at least 95% of RC availability. Claiming these accounts is another option that can be automated in the following screen.
Reclamar recompensas
Las recompensas que recibimos en Hive, tanto de autor, como de curación, no entran directamente en nuestro monedero, debemos reclamarlas para que estas pasen a ser parte de nuestro capital real. Mientras esto no sucede, el HP que podría haber aumentado con esto, no lo hace y por tanto perdemos... En muchas ocasiones se nos olvida reclamar nuestras recompensas y por tal razón nos perdemos de beneficios. Esta acción es posible automatizarla y que Keychain esté pendiente de reclamar nuestras recompensas cada hora.
¡Esta primera casilla deberías marcarla para que puedas contar siempre con tus fondos completos!
Reclamar cuentas
Para quienes tienen un HP alto y cuentan con mucho Resource Credits o RC, existe la posibilidad de reclamar cuentas de Hive. Para esta acción el usuario necesita cerca de 4 billones (para la época en que escribo esto) y tener al menos el 95% de disponibilidad de RC. Reclamar estas cuentas es otra de las opciones que se pueden automatizar en la siguiente pantalla.

Clear all data || Borrar todo
To finish with the settings menu, we have this screen in which we are given the possibility to delete everything. But what is the benefit of this function?
Simple! As your account information is only stored in the browser, if you forget your password, to reset Keychain you just need to do this, delete your data and re-register your data and assign a new password.
Of course, there are more reasons to delete your data, but I point out this case, because there are many people who do not know what to do if they forget their password...
When you confirm, you will have the extension as finished installing and you will need to start assigning your custom key for Keychain.
Para terminar con el menú de configuración, tenemos esta pantalla en la cual se nos da la posibilidad de borrar todo. ¿Pero cuál es el beneficio de esta función?
¡Sencillo! Como la información de tus cuentas solo está almacenada en el navegador, si se te olvida la clave, para reiniciar Keychain solo necesitas hacer esto, borrar tus datos y volver a registrar tus datos y asignar una nueva clave.
Por supuesto, hay más razones para borrar tus datos, pero señalo este caso, pues hay muchas personas que no saben cómo hacer si olvidan su contraseña...
Al confirmar, tendrás la extensión como acabada de instalar y deberás empezar por asignar tu clave personalizada para Keychain.
Additional info || Información adicional
We return to our home screen. There we can see some data that are of great interest such as our voting mana (remember that ideally it should not fall below 70-80%), as well as the value at that moment of our vote at 100%.
On the right side we have the status of our Resource Credits (RC), indicated in percentage.
Volvemos a nuestra pantalla de inicio. Allí podemos ver unos datos que son de mucho interés como lo es nuestro mana de voto (que recuerden que lo ideal es que no baje de 70-80%), así como el valor en ese momento de nuestro voto al 100%.
Del lado derecho tenemos el estatus de nuestros Resource Credits (RC), indicado en porcentaje.
Y en la parte baja tenemos cuatro botones más que veremos a continuación.
Hive Menu || Menú de Hive
Continuing downwards, we have direct wallet actions, associated to each coin mode, starting with Hive, which when clicked displays a submenu with four options:
- Send hive to another account
- Make Power Up
- Buy Hive (On external exchanges)
- Convert Hive (A relatively new process)
Siguiendo hacia abajo, tenemos acciones directas de monedero, asociadas a cada modalidad de moneda, empezando con Hive, que al hacer clic despliega un submenú con cuatro opciones:
- Enviar hive a otra cuenta
- Hacer Power Up

Hive Power Menu || Menú del HP
As we will see below, the options in this menu are to delegate HP or to start a Power Down.
In the first case it indicates the HP that we are receiving delegates from other users, below the amount that we are currently delegating and below the available HP. To delegate we only have to type the name of the delegatee or recipient and the amount of HP.
To initiate a Power Down we only have to indicate the amount or press where it indicates "SEND MAX" to withdraw all our Hive Power.
In this screen we can see above the amount of Hive we have and the HP available for Power Down.
Como veremos a continuación, las opciones de este menú son las de delegar HP o dar inicio a un Power Down.
En el primer caso nos indica los HP que estamos recibiendo delegados de otros usuario, debajo la cantidad que estamos delegando actualmente y más abajo el HP disponible. Para delegar solo debemos escribir el nombre del delegatee o destinatario y la cantidad de HP.
Para iniciar un Power Down solo debemos indicar el monto u oprimir donde indica "SEND MAX" para retirar todo nuestro Hive Power.
En esa pantalla podemos ver arriba la cantidad de Hive que disponemos y el HP disponible para Power Down.

Below these wallet functions we can find an estimated value of our account in US dollars, mainly taking into account the amount available in HP. This is a reference amount!
And below four buttons. The first one, SEND, takes us to the same screen we saw previously for the transfer or send, either Hive or HBD.
The second one, HISTORY, shows us some of the most recent operations in our wallet.
The other two we will see next.
Debajo de estas funciones de monedero podemos encontrar un valor estimado de nuestra cuenta en dólares americanos, tomando en cuenta principalmente el monto disponible en HP. ¡Esta es una cantidad referencial!
Y más abajo cuatro botones. El primero de ellos, ENVIAR, nos lleva a la misma pantalla que vimos anteriormente para la transferencia o envío, sea de Hive o HBD.
El segundo, HISTORIA, nos muestra algunas de las operaciones más reciente en nuestro monedero.

Tokens
Since the appearance of the tribes in Hive, the popularity of tokens has been growing and today some tokens such as Leo, Vibes, Pal, CCC, Pizza, Beer, Luv and many others linked to online games are very popular.
Keychain offers us the possibility to perform some operations with them.
On the first screen we have the complete list of the tokens we want to visualize, with a "history" button to see the most recent operations with that specific currency and next to it, the already classic send button, to transfer the token to other users.
On the gear wheel, top right, takes us to the "TOKENS AVAILABLE" screen, where we can select with the checkboxes, which tokens we want to display on the main screen. That is, the ones we actually use.
I also share with you the view of one's history, for this occasion I selected the CCC history and lastly, the send or transfer screen, for which I chose Posh.
Desde la aparición de las tribus en Hive, la popularidad de los tokens ha ido creciendo y hoy en día son muy populares algunos como Leo, Vibes, Pal, CCC, Pizza, Beer, Luv y muchos otros vinculados a juegos en línea.
Keychain nos pone a disposición la posibilidad de realizar algunas operaciones con ellos.
En la primera pantalla tenemos la lista completa de los tokens que queremos visualizar, con un botón de "histórico" para ver las más recientes operaciones con esa moneda específica y al lado, el ya clásico botón de envío, para transferir el token a otros usuarios.
En la rueda de engranaje, arriba a la derecha, nos lleva a la pantalla "TOKENS AVAILABLE", es decir Tokens disponibles, donde podemos seleccionar con las casillas, cuales queremos visualizar en la pantalla principal. Es decir, los que realmente usamos.
Les comparto también la vista de la historia de uno, para esta ocasión seleccioné el histórico de CCC y de última, la pantalla de envío o transferencia, para lo cual escogí Posh.

Witnesses || Testigo
In the first screen dedicated to the witnesses, it starts by showing the ones you have voted for. At the top it indicates how many of the 30 slots you have available. In my case it indicates "0" because I always fill my 30 votes.
The second option shows the Top 100, i.e. the 100 most popular. There on that screen you have the possibility to check or uncheck the boxes of the witnesses you want to vote for. If you still have places available, you can take the opportunity to vote for the Hive Keychain developers, as a show of support for the work they do.
En la primera pantalla dedicada a los testigos empieza por mostrar los que uno ha votado. En la parte superior indica cuántos cupos, de los 30, te quedan disponibles. En mi caso indica "0" porque yo siempre ocupo mis 30 votos.
La segunda opción muestra el Top 100, es decir los cien más populares. Allí en esa pantalla tienes la posibilidad de marcar o desmarcar las casillas de los testigos que quieras votar. Si aún te queda cupos disponibles, puedes aprovechar para votar por los desarrolladores de Hive Keychain, como una muestra de apoyo a la labor que ellos hacen.

But there is a possibility that you want to vote for a witness who is not in the Top 100. For that you have the option to use the ADD button. There you can manually add the witness name and vote for it.
For those people who do not know much about the work of the witnesses and prefer to place a proxy, that is, follow a user they trust and thus follow the votes of that user.
For example if you put my user, ylich and below you put Proxy, your votes go to the 30 witnesses that I am voting for.
Pero existe la posibilidad de que quieras votar por un testigo que no está en el Top 100. Para eso tienes la opción de usar el botón ADD. Allí podrás agregar manualmente el nombre del testigo y votar por él.
Para aquellas personas que no conocen mucho de la labor de los testigos y prefieran colocar un Proxy, es decir seguir a algún usuario en quien confíen y así seguir los votos de ese usuario.
Por ejemplo si colocas mi usuario, ylich y abajo colocas Proxy, tus votos van para los 30 testigos que yo estoy votando.
In conclusion || En conclusión
As you can see, beyond the "security" factor, for which this tool is essential in order not to expose our passwords to a possible Phishing, there are many operations that we can perform from it.
It is clear that there are many of these operations that are more "practical" to do directly in one of the websites, but I have discovered that there are many opportunities in which using them in Keychain is more secure and/or faster.
For me this is an essential tool since I started using it.
The mobile version was the one I hadn't tried and now I have found it to be just as useful on my phone as this extension. But the full review of the mobile version I will do in a future post.
I hope with this post I have satisfied the expectations of all the users who asked me for more information about the extension and those of @stoodkev, who encouraged me to do it.
Como pueden ver, mucho más allá del factor "seguridad", para el cual esta herramienta es fundamental a fin de no exponer nuestras claves a un posible Phishing, son muchas las operaciones que podemos realizar desde ella.
Esta claro que hay muchas de estas operaciones que resulta más "práctico" hacerlas directamente en una de las páginas, pero yo he descubierto qu hay muchas oportunidades en que usarlas en Keychain resultan más seguras y/o rápidas.
Para mí esta es una herramienta imprescindible desde que empecé a usarla.
La versión móvil era la que yo no había probado y ahora he descubierto que es igual de útil en mi teléfono que esta extensión. Pero la reseña completa de la versión para celulares la haré en un próximo post.
Espero con esta publicación haber satisfecho las expectativas de todos los usuarios que me pidieron más información respecto a la extensión y las de @stoodkev, quien me animó a realizarlo.
