Sometimes being lucky can be a funny thing. It can be like a double-edged sword. I think no one can relate to this better than people who have a habit of overthinking everything.
We all have brains and so, we all have thoughts (at least I hope that you do!). The thing is, with "normal" people, these thoughts are more or less within the bounds of "normal thinking". So, you think about something and then you don't, after a while.
But we overthinkers are crazy. When we think about something, we can't help but think about every single aspect of it. And when you think about every single aspect, it's like going down the rabbit hole. After a while, you become confused as to why you are there in the first place!
You may say that this can be quite lucrative because you are able to think more deeply and so, you might make better decisions about a variety of situations in life. And while that may be true, you don't always feel lucky to have a brain that just doesn't stop! As I said, luck can be a double-edged sword, and having an overthinking brain is certainly one.
Brain - Your Worst Enemy?
An old English proverb says, "Fire is a good servant but a bad master". If you use it well, it will transform your life but if you let it get out of control, it can kill you.
The same is applicable for your brain too. If you use it well, you can achieve anything in life (unless you want to break the laws of Physics, which is obviously not possible, duh!). But if you let it get out of control, it will wreak havoc in your life.
Sure, there are bouts of brilliance you get to experience with a brain that is hyperactive (like doing exceptionally creative stuff, solving the most difficult of logical problems, and so on), but it's very difficult to control such a mind.
The result is that you are even thinking when you are trying to sleep. And god forbid if you wake up before your alarm clock goes off because then you just won't be able to go back to sleep. That engine that gets started once is impossible to stop!
In a way, such a brain can become your worst enemy. And time and time again, we get to see unfortunate examples of this. There are ways to make things better but it requires a lot of patience and determination.
So, the next time you want to understand someone who is an overthinker, you will have at least a slight idea of what things are like inside their heads!
