You can kick to your opponent. You can kick different kicks like the front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, back kick and so on. Your opponent can do the same.
When someone kicks, it can be a high kick or low kick. You can defend and block front kicks with sweep parry and palm stop block. When you defend against front kicks, make sure you make the distance.
If you are very close to your opponent, you can expect low kicks. In a close range, it is difficult to do high kicks. You can use your legs to defend low kicks.
You can simply raise your legs or kick to your opponent's leg to stop him. If your opponent does high kicks, you can use your hands to block. How to do it? Let's watch this video.
You can use palm slap parry or outside parry to defend against high kicks. It depends on how your opponent kicks. After defending kick, make sure you make your move fast and counter-attack.
If you do not make your move to counter-attack, your opponent will keep attacking you. Ask your training partner to practice with you, otherwise, you will not be able to use it do to defend yourself in a fight.
So practicing on your own is not enough. If you practice parry and block, no one is there to kick you so that you can practice, you will not understand how to move in a fight and defend a kick.
If you defend a kick for the first time, you know you will get hurt unless you are used to doing it.
A lot of things depend on distance. Even how your opponent attacks you and how you are going to move, it affects where you are in a fight. Sometimes you have to move out of the attacking range to defend yourself. Sometimes you need to get in to strike. So spend some time to do sparring with your partner.
