This is a fun one but to be honest I don't have a 'favourite' quote. I think that there are a lot of great quotes but they each have different applications depending on the context so a quote is only good in relation to the environment it's brought up in. However I did pick a good quote that fits my blog and Hive in general in my opinion.
So the quote itself is good and has a lot of great applications. I have had a theme of stick-to-itness in trying to blog consistently and it seems to be working out ok for me. I have been successful in becoming a more active part of community and it all comes from making the effort and participating.
It also has a good sitcom reference which seems to be a running theme for this blog. The office has been a well-known piece of pop culture over the years with many references tying us back to it all the time. Personally I'm a little lower on the show than I know a lot of people are but I don't think it's bad and I think its one where really strong single frame and quick references can be drawn from so that's why it's stayed so strong in meme and pop culture.
The third aspect is the idea of plagiarism which has seemed to be a hot topic on Hive. Now I want to start out by saying that I obviously don't endorse plagiarism in any way but I still think there are aspects to discuss on the subject. Here Michael is giving credit for the quote but it's obvious he's trying to take credit for it by having his name written much larger. There is an interesting complexity that can be taken away from this.
One is that we should obviously give credit to the roots where something comes from but on the other hand there realistically is only so many ways to rehash the same thing over and over again trying to make unique content. I think that we can take something that is probably not original and try to make something unique out of it by adding our personal perspective. Isn't that what we're all doing with this blogging challenge? I don't think Michael Scott is really doing anything transformative with the quote but it still gives us good food for thought.
