¡Un gran saludo para todos! Las últimas semanas han sido bastante movidas para mí, por temas del trabajo y la universidad he estado bastante ocupado estos días, además de esto, como saben, tengo mis compromisos como colaborador en la parroquia donde presto servicio, el santuario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria. El mes pasado tuvimos muchas actividades que probablemente compartiré más adelante, una de ellas, fue la ceremonia de Confirmación de los muchachos que estaban realizando la catequesis para dicho sacramento, como es costumbre, a mis compañeros del coro y a mi nos tocó cantar en dicha ceremonia.
Greetings to all! The last few weeks I have been quite busy, thanks to work and university issues I have been doing many things these days, in addition to this, as you know, I have my commitments as a collaborator in the parish where I serve, “Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria” sanctuary. Last month we had many activities that I will probably share with you later, one of them was the Confirmation ceremony of the guys who were doing the catechesis for this sacrament, as is customary, my choir companions and I had to sing in said ceremony.
Las ceremonias de confirmación son muy espéciales para quienes reciben este sacramento, pues como su nombre lo indica, ellos están confirmando su fe como católicos, pues sin ninguna obligación de algún tercero toman voluntariamente esta decisión de recibir al Espíritu Santo y continuar practicando la fe católica. Para nosotros los miembros del coro también es una ocasión especial, dado que es una ceremonia muy particular con algunos cantos específicos en su mayoría un poco complicados que requieren de cierta preparación, ya que todo debe resultar lo mejor posible dada la ocasión. Después de algunas semanas ensayando llegó el día de la tan esperada ceremonia.
Confirmation ceremonies are very special for those who receive this sacrament, because as their name indicates, they are confirming their faith as Catholics, because without any obligation from a third one they voluntarily make this decision to receive the Holy Spirit and continue practicing the Catholic faith. For us, the members of the choir, it is also a special occasion, since it is a very particular ceremony with some specific songs, most of them a bit complicated that require some preparation, since everything should be as good as possible given the occasion. After a few weeks rehearsing, the day of the long-awaited ceremony arrived.
Este suele ser uno de esos días donde estamos tan concentrados en nuestro servicio como ministro de música que incluso dejamos de lado el tema de tomarnos fotos o algo parecido, por ello durante la ceremonia a penas pude conseguir un par de fotos que una de las catequistas me envió. Este año volvió a contar con la particularidad de que fue en un contexto de pandemia por lo cual había ciertas restricciones durante la ceremonia y no se realizó a puerta abierta como siempre, era solamente para quienes recibirían el sacramento y sus familiares. Después de la ceremonia y terminado todo, estuvimos un poco más relajados pues lo más complicado había terminado y gracias a Dios todo salió bastante bien, terminado todo estuve un rato conversando con mis ahijadas quienes habían asistido para acompañar a uno de sus amigos.
This is usually one of those days where we are so focused on our service as music minister that we even put aside the issue of taking photos or something similar, so during the ceremony I could barely get a couple of photos that one of the catechists sent me. Once again, this year had the particularity that it was in a context of pandemic for which there were certain restrictions during the ceremony and it was not for everybody who wanted to observe the ceremony as always, it was only for those who would receive the sacrament and their families. After the ceremony and everything finished, we were a little more relaxed because the most complicated thing was over and thank God everything went quite well, everything finished I spent a while talking with my goddaughters who had attended to accompany one of their friends.
Es impresionante como cada grupo de confirmandos es distinto cada año, desde los más activos y participativos, hasta los más tranquilos, estos son los detalles interesantes que hacen que cada año, las confirmaciones tengan un sabor distinto, pues hay ocasiones en las que llegamos a compartir bastante con el grupo que recibirá el sacramento y otra donde solo llegamos a conocer a unos pocos. Este año, debido al contexto actual se nos dificultó compartir con todos, así que llegamos a conocer a muy pocos realmente, sin embrago, siempre es un sentimiento especial, ver como otras personas reciben este bello sacramento.
It is impressive how each group of confirmands is different each year, from the most active and participative, to the calmest, these are the interesting details that make each year the confirmations have a different flavor, as there are times when we get to share a lot with the group that will receive the sacrament and another where we only get to know a few. This year, due to the current context, it was difficult for us to share with everyone, so we really got to know very few, however, it is always a special feeling, to see how other people receive this beautiful sacrament.
Además de todo lo que significa, siempre es bueno compartir este tipo de ceremonias animando en la parte musical con mis compañeros del coro, este año tuvo la particularidad de que contamos con varios nuevos integrantes en el mismo, por lo cual el proceso de ensayos y preparación fue distinto ya que había que pulir algunas cosas desde el inicio, sin embargo, a pesar de que los muchachos estaban bastante nerviosos, todo salió muy bien.
In addition to all that it means, it is always good to share this type of ceremonies animating in the musical part with my companions of the choir, this year had the peculiarity that we have several new members in it, therefore the process of rehearsals and preparation was different as some things had to be polished from the beginning, however, despite the fact that the boys were quite nervous, everything went very well.
Dentro de estos nuevos integrantes hay un caso particular y es que Nía, una de las nuevas integrantes, no ha recibido el sacramento de la confirmación, por lo cual, ya sabemos quien recibirá el sacramento el año que viene, casualmente ella es la que tiene la mayor experiencia musical pues ha recibido clases de canto por años, sin embargo, todavía debe formarse en la parte litúrgica, pero es una gran adición para el grupo y en poco tiempo se ha convertido en una buena amiga.
Among these new members there is a particular case and that is Nía, one of the new members, has not received the sacrament of confirmation, therefore, we already know who will receive the sacrament next year, coincidentally she is the one who has the greatest musical experience since she has received singing lessons for years, however, she still needs to be trained in the liturgical part, but she is a great addition to the group and in a short time she has become a good friend.
Como les comenté, cada grupo de confirmación es distinto y el compartir con ellos es totalmente diferente, al igual que nuestra preparación y la forma en la que vivimos la ceremonia desde el lugar del coro, esto solo hace más entretenida la experiencia y que cada año sea toda una aventura desde que nos indican que se acerca la fecha de la ceremonia, en la cual siempre estamos dispuestos a participar con todo gusto.
As I mentioned, each confirmation group is different and sharing with them is totally different, as it is our preparation and the way we live the ceremony from the choir place, this fact only makes the experience more entertaining and makes each year an adventure since they tell us that the date of the ceremony is approaching, in which we are always willing to participate with all pleasure.
