Her Detrimental World | A 5 min freewrite

Hello, Dear Hivers!

Yesterday I was so excited to see what word @mariannewest was going to choose for her daily writing challenge but when I saw I was like “WHAT?”
The word was “detrimental” I didn’t know what detrimental was so I after some research I kind of understood its meaning. Now I can say that this word was detrimental to me…

PS: I’m a bit sick, so I couldn’t finish the story yesterday, reason why I’m posting it today. Hope you enjoy it!

Her detrimental world

“Cartoons are for children, Jane” Said Pam, Jane’s best friend.

“I know” she chuckled “It’s just that… I don’t know, I enjoy them”

Though Jane actually did enjoy cartoons, the reason why she watched them went deeper than that.

While Gumball convinced Darwin that he wasn’t only his sidekick Jane’s mind went back to that morning her mother decided to eat while watching TV. She LOVED animals so she tuned in Animal Planet and enjoyed the breakfast watching how Wild Frank showed a tree to a baby monkey for the very first time. It broke Jane's heart to see how the baby cried when frank took its teddy bear apart. “Poor baby” thought Jane “He was taken far from home too little just to satisfy others. SO UNFAIR!”

Later at lunch her father was talking to her about all the bullshits he usually saw on twitter. All the fights whether about politics or the new Black Life Matters trending (It is worth to highlight her father is black).

“They may have a reason for this movement because of all the injustice blacks have suffered, but they are being too radical, I mean, they’re destroying cities, robbing places, and that’s not right. In fact, they’re giving the racists a reason to still hate them, and that’s not enough, now the left is supporting them just to receive votes and…” Jane heard no more.

She had lived under a left government for all her 17 years of age with the faith that one day she could leave to somewhere else where the left couldn’t hurt her or her parents, but that faith was evaporating like water under the sun…

Her only way to disconnect from all of those issues that killed her faith was watching cartoons. In those worlds they had their issues of course, but at the end they went back to happiness and that made her forget the detrimental world she was living in.

Thanks for stopping by! 💜
