Las prácticas de conquista y dominación de unas culturas sobre otras ha sido en la larga experiencia humana una realidad palpable.

En la interacción entre diversos grupos culturales, la idea de la otredad, de esos que son distintos a mi, origina una desigualdad que en ocasiones se manifiesta mediante ideas como: "mi cultura es mejor, mi forma de organización es la válida y la correcta, no la tuya."

Estás ideas en ocasiones no corresponden a una mente maquiavélica y maligna sino al resultado de ciertas condiciones en la sociedad que generan esos pensamientos y actitudes de forma inconsciente. Al punto de hacer natural pensamientos como " es normal que mi civilización sea mejor a la tuya, tenemos mejores cosas y somos mejores..." justificando así la violenta invasión de territorios y sociedades.

En siglos anteriores la crítica a estas prácticas, no tenía el impactó mediático de hoy día, pues la ética servía a los intereses de grupos dominantes y el armamento militar en nombre de un estado justificaba plenamente la conquista, "quien puede más, gana"
