I have been in sign language community for more than 14 years. Since then, I am involved in teaching deaf people from different places here in Pangasinan. We have our weekly meetings which happens twice, which helped to improve my skills in sign language too.
Eleven years ago, I had my turn to teach other hearing people sign language so they can join in deaf ministry. It is a great feeling that I became an instrument in teaching deaf people and hearing individuals.
I also became an interpreter back then as a volunteer in a short class from Department of Social Welfare and Development. There's a vocational school in Dagupan City for persons with disability where we also used to volunteer.
Before the lockdown, it got me worried because I am unable to visit my deaf students. Good thing there's videoconferencing through Zoom Cloud Meetings where I can go on with my lessons for my students. Our weekly meetings in sign language was also held every week.
Just this week, we started teaching some interested individuals to learn sign language.
Here's how our classes was held. @shula14 and @shawmeow joined in as a sign of support.
Since we are still under lockdown for 15 more days, we will go on with these online activities. We won't let our skills in sign language diminish during these times, and even share by teaching others.
