Desde hace tiempo vengo considerando colocarme un apodo. Desde la última vez que publiqué en Steemit (en marzo de este año) y ahora que he regresado en Hive, me ronda en la cabeza ese apodo y hoy decidí agregarlo a mi perfil. Será un apodo que represente una de las cosas que más me gusta hacer aquí en Hive. Señoras y señores, desde hoy soy oficialmente “Gary, El Comentador”.
I've been considering a nickname for a while now. Since the last time I posted on Steemit (in March of this year) and now that I'm back on Hive, that nickname has been on my mind and today I decided to add it to my profile. It will be a nickname that represents one of the things I like to do here at Hive. Ladies and gentlemen, from today I am officially "Gary the Commentator".
Y no, Gary no es un apodo, es mi nombre real. Y no, tampoco me lo pusieron por el caracolito de Bob Esponja. Yo tengo 36 y ese par son más jóvenes. Mi Nombre completo es Gary Samuel Bilbao, así me puedes encontrar en mi Facebook, Instagram y Twitter.
And no, Gary is not a nickname, it's my real name. And no, I didn't get it because of SpongeBob's snail. I'm 36 and that pair is younger. My full name is Gary Samuel Bilbao, so you can find me on my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Hace unos días leí un post de esos que te dejan pensando, no solo por su contenido, sino porque coincide con tu manera de pensar y es grato saber que otros comparten la misma idea que tú, y más cuando sabes que es una buena idea (modestia aparte). El post es cuestión es este y lo escribió el pana @ilazramusic. En el expresa su opinión que para crecer como autores primero debemos crecer como comunidad y resalta la importancia de leer, votar y comentar cada post que leamos y no solamente dejar un vacío comentario tipo “buen post, sigue así. Gracias por compartir”. Este tema no es nuevo, pero parece ser que aún no lo internalizamos y menos como como comunidad hispanohablante.
A few days ago I read one of those posts that leaves you thinking, not only because of its content, but because it coincides with your way of thinking and it's nice to know that others share the same idea as you, and even more so when you know it's a good idea (modesty aside). The post is a matter of this and was written by pana @ilazramusic. In it he expresses his opinion that to grow as authors we must first grow as a community and he highlights the importance of reading, voting and commenting every post we read and not just leaving an empty comment like "good post, keep it up. Thank you for sharing". This topic is not new, but it seems that we still don't internalize it and even less as a Spanish speaking community.
Bien, a lo que vine. ¿por qué el apodo de "El Comentador"? Simple, porque me gusta comentar publicaciones. Soy fan de los comentarios, de hecho en YouTube o Facebook lo que siempre hago es, luego de ver el post o video, irme a los comentarios y ver qué dice la gente, sobre todo cuando tengo dudas de alguna información. De hecho, a veces aprendo más en los comentarios que en la publicación original. Además, en redes hay usuarios que se lanzan unos comentarios geniales, así que realmente vale la pena visitar la caja de comentarios.
Okay, so I'm here. Why the nickname "The Commentator"? Simple, because I like to comment on publications. I'm a fan of comments, in fact in YouTube or Facebook what I always do is, after seeing the post or video, go to the comments and see what people say, especially when I have doubts about some information. In fact, sometimes I learn more in the comments than in the original post. Also, on networks there are users who post great comments, so it's really worth visiting the comment box.
Como ven, me gusta leer comentarios y también, como era de esperarse, me gusta dejarlos. En vista de eso me he propuesto ser el mejor comentador de Hive. Ese que agregue valor a cada publicación que lea y que deje al autor con una sensación de alegría y satisfacción y motivado a seguir publicando como lo hace.
As you can see, I like to read comments and also, as expected, I like to leave them. In view of that, I have set out to be the best commentator on Hive. The one who adds value to every publication he reads and who leaves the author with a feeling of joy and satisfaction and motivated to continue publishing as he does.
¿Para qué? Para motivar e inspirar a cada artista que hay aquí en Hive. Porque aquí hay escritores, dibujantes, diseñadores, cantantes, oradores, locutores, artesanos y una gran variedad de personas que les gusta el arte y como artistas necesitamos del elogio, de una palabra de admiración, de que reconozcan nuestro trabajo. Y más porque no siempre somos recompensados como quisiéramos, monetariamente hablando; pero si alguien se toma el tiempo de leer o ver atentamente lo que publicamos y además lo refleja en un comentario sincero sobre ello, entonces ese feedback nos llena, y aunque los dólares no lleguen, al menos sabemos que del otro lado de la pantalla hubo alguien al que le tocamos una fibra o que aprecia lo que hacemos.
For what? To motivate and inspire every artist here at Hive. Because here there are writers, cartoonists, designers, singers, speakers, broadcasters, craftsmen and a wide variety of people who like art and as artists we need praise, a word of admiration, recognition for our work. And more so because we are not always rewarded as we would like to be, monetarily speaking; but if someone takes the time to read or look closely at what we publish and also reflects it in an honest commentary on it, then that feedback fills us up, and even if the dollars don't come, at least we know that on the other side of the screen there was someone we touched a fiber to or who appreciates what we do.

PD: Por cierto, elegí “comentador” y no “comentarista”, ya que si bien ambos son sinónimos, “comentador” tiene más similitud con su traducción a inglés que es “commentator”, y sí, tengo planes de comentar también publicaciones en inglés.
