             Meet my Pencil Cactus!

Dear friends,

Way back then, our lives during pandemic was so boring. It’s like we’re living in an apocalyptic planet, same on what we saw on movies. Because it was boring that we can’t go out, I discovered a new planting hobby. We lived in a cemented area where searching for soil and planting directly to the ground is impossible. People made money to sell soil everywhere. The Facebook Marketplace was fed up of plants and soil posts to be delivered at home. I was one of their customers.

My overprotective dog on guard of the plant.

This plant is my remembrance during pandemic. Its name is Pencil Cactus that I bought for 100 pesos without its own pot. According to Wikipedia, it can grow in a place with normal temperature. It grows typically in Southern Africa. It grows outdoor and indoor. Kids are not allowed to play it’s branches because the latex can cause blindness.

As we see on the first picture, my Pencil Cactus isn’t growing taller. It doesn’t need to be watered everyday. As a busy person, I water it twice a week. If it is put indoor, it doesn’t need to be placed outside under the sun. Taking care of a plant like this is effortless. A lot of plant lovers use it as an interior home decor.

The plant looks alive after months of waiting.

Months passed by, I finally saw the fruit of my labor. Just look at the picture how beautiful it is. I bought a ceramic flower pot at the mall. So I just told you that only one family member can go out around that time. My only gun was a quarantine pass, hoping that the security will allow me getting in even without a vaccination card. Without knowing, the city mayor ordered a protocol that day; to temporarily allow a person to enter at the mall, even if he only has a quarantine pass. It was my lucky day!

This is how it looks today.
