"The hard way is the fast way.
Do it right the first time and you won't have to do it over the next time"
James Clear
Nothing better than starting the weekend with a nice inspirational quote. As I mentioned in one of my previous #index4index posts, I've been a subscriber to James Clear's weekly newsletter for a few years now and I really enjoy it for its conciseness and, as he says himself, amount of wisdom per word.
This quote is from the most recent edition of Clear's newsletter and it really hits home. It's something I live pretty much every day and even before I read this quote I was already trying to do something about it.
As a Project Manager, doing status reports is a big part of my routine. I have to do weekly reports, fortnightly reports, monthly reports, quarterly reports, daily reports and... well you get the picture.
With so many reports to do, I sometimes found myself overwhelmed and instead of taking a structured approach I was all over the place manually gathering and inputting data just to meet my deadlines, always promising myself that next time it would be different.
Recently, however, I decided to break that habit so I blocked time on my schedule to sit down and fix everything once and for all. It took me many hours to get it right but I'm confident that I'll save 10x as much in the coming days, weeks and months.
