A bit of insider information for you, if you didn't already know. My girlfriend @flowerbaby is obsessed with Halloween and horror. I like both a lot too, but her affinity towards the two is far greater than that of mine. She had a few ideas for ways to spookify my apartment.

The first plan was to purchase a black Christmas tree. My apartment is pretty small, so the tree also needed to be tiny. She found one on amazon that is rather perfect. Then she also ordered some ornaments to go on it. You will notice black, orange, purple, and white shiny orbs. Some of which have spider webs and eyeball designs on them.

It looked pretty great, but she felt it was still missing one final touch. I got us some glow-in-the-dark cobwebs to spread throughout the tree. I've yet to see it glow, but it does look pretty awesome just like regular cobwebs. The overall design is perfect and I think I might like it even better than a regular Christmas tree.

Next on the agenda was to create a blanket together. We already have several blankets scattered across my place, but none of them were crafted by us together. I witnessed my mother making Tied Fleece Blankets many years ago when I was younger. I always thought they were so cool and she must have made a dozen of them at least. I can remember our dogs each had one inside of their crate so they'd never get cold. Our old boy Rocco's even matched his eyes.

@flowerbaby had never made one of these blankets before, but she assured me via Tik Toks that it was a simple process. I didn't make a fuss about it as we didn't have much else to do after meeting my parents for lunch yesterday. We went to Joann Fabric in search of the two most perfect fleece designs.

I think we both envisioned a Halloween theme blanket, but there was so much to choose from so we strayed from that idea momentarily. Luckily, we ended up finding a really awesome pattern which we both liked a lot. It was a tarot card theme with spiders, skulls, moons, black cats, crystals, and some magical-looking hand. It was white, black, and orange. We both knew that this meant a solid orange color would look pretty amazing for the backside. We purchased 2.5 yds of each fabric and then we got in the car and headed home to begin.

The way the process works really is pretty easy. You just lay out both fabrics on top of each other and like them up. Then you cut squares out all four corners. Next, you cut strips around all of the edges so that you have a way to tie the two pieces of fleece together. The hardest part was tying the knots, which wasn't difficult at all once you got in the groove. She did all of the cutting and some of the tying, but I ended up doing most of the tying. It was a team effort and didn't even take us an hour in total to complete.

I'm totally satisfied with how it turned out. Not only does it look amazing, but it is also by far the warmest blanket that we have now considering it has two thick layers of fleece. It's the perfect size for both of us to fit under and it most certainly is very Halloween-oriented. This adds yet another spooky piece to my place and I know we both are glad that we did it.
