Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Come vi avevo preannunciato in fase di First Impression, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty avrebbe mandato in brodo di giuggiole tutti gli appassionati di basket e di NBA, specie quelli più nostalgici ed i cui ricordi sono ancorati, soprattutto agli anni '80 ed al leggendario duello fra Magic Johnson e Larry Bird, i 2 ragazzi terribili, draftati nello stesso anno e che sin da subito hanno preso per mano l'intera NBA per traghettarla, grazie anche all'avvento di figure come Jerry Buss, Pat Riley e David Stern nel "circle", nel futuro.
Winning Time è arrivata il 2 Giugno su Sky, accompagnata, anche, da un graditissimo speciale edito da Federico Buffa e Flavio Tranquillo, la coppia più formidabile e rilevante del giornalismo sportivo italiano degli ultimi 30 anni (mia opinione personalissima).
Io che la serie l'ho terminata di vedere ancora prima che arrivasse in Italia, sono in grado di dirvi che tutto fila alla grande, la prima stagione è stata stupefacente, le vibrazioni che ti lascia sono sensazionali.
Non potete, non dovete perderla.
Per nessuna ragione a questo mondo.

Nel post di first impression (che trovate qui) avevo ampiamente esaltato lo show, focalizzandomi soprattutto su quanto fosse una serie fondamentale per gli amanti degli NBA.
Ribadisco che quella forza dirompente accompagna l'intera prima stagione, facendo saltare sulla sedia più volte i veri appassionati della lega. Tante origin story, da quella di Jerry Buss a quella di Pat Riley, passando per Paul Westhead e Michael Johnson, ma anche tante falling story come quella agrodolce di Jack McKinney e quella di "Wood" Haywood. Storie di rinascite e rinnovamenti, come ad esempio quelle di 2 delle più famose star ogni epoca cosi diverse che sembran provenire da 2 pianeti diversi. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, a fine carriera, demotivato, affranto dai disordini sociali e dalla lotta razziale che infiamma il paese, improvvisamente si rianima, acceso da quel fuoco sorridente e carismatico che porta in dote l'arrivo di Magic Johnson.
Jerry West è vulcanico, iroso, ossessivo. "The Logo" lascia la poltrona più prestigiosa e scomoda ad un signor nessuno, un gregario come Jack McKinney e lo fa con tutta la rabbia e la saggezza di chi sa che per permettere alla sua franchigia di splendere è necessario che lui si faccia da parte. Quello che Jerry West non sapeva, però, è che quel suo coraggioso e riluttante gesto, gli avrebbe aperto le porte di una carriera sfolgorante dietro le quinte. Un manager brillante, un punto di riferimento per tutti i Lakers nei decenni a venire.
Nell'arco di tutta la stagione assistiamo a tantissime comparsate che gli appassionati di basket avranno apprezzato e ad altrettanti riferimenti pop che non possiamo certo trascurare.
Uno su tutti?
L'approdo sulla scena della Nike, oggi colosso dell'abbigliamento sportivo ma 50 anni fa sconosciuta a tutti e fuori dal giro che conta. Magic in persona rifiuterà la bizzarra proposta di Mr. Nike, preferendo la più sicura e mainstream Converse.
E poi c'è David Stern che fa capolino, Coach Auerbach che ancora non sa che la sua dinastia è destinata a morire per fare spazio alla visione di Mr. Buss.
Sono cosi tanti gli spunti, le strizzatine d'occhio, le ricostruzioni, da far scoppiare il cuore di ogni appassionato NBA.

As I predicted to you during First Impression, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty would have sent all basketball and NBA fans into a swoon, especially the more nostalgic ones and whose memories are anchored, above all, to the 1980s and the legendary duel between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, the 2 terrible guys, drafted in the same year and who from the very beginning took the entire NBA by the hand to ferry it, thanks also to the advent of figures like Jerry Buss, Pat Riley and David Stern in the "circle," into the future.
Winning Time arrived June 2 on Sky, accompanied, also, by a very welcome special edited by Federico Buffa and Flavio Tranquillo, the most formidable and relevant couple in Italian sports journalism of the last 30 years (my very personal opinion).
I, who finished watching the series even before it arrived in Italy, am able to tell you that everything runs great, the first season was amazing, the vibes it leaves you with are sensational.
You cannot, you must not miss it.
For no reason in this world.

In the first impression post (which you can find here) I had extensively extolled the show, focusing especially on how it was an essential series for NBA fans.
I reiterate that that disruptive force accompanies the entire first season, making true fans of the league jump in their seats several times. So many origin stories, from Jerry Buss's to Pat Riley's to Paul Westhead's and Michael Johnson's, but also so many falling stories like Jack McKinney's bittersweet one and "Wood" Haywood's. Stories of rebirth and renewal, such as those of 2 of the most famous stars each era so different that they seem to come from 2 different planets. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, at the end of his career, unmotivated, grief-stricken by the social unrest and racial strife inflaming the country, suddenly revives, ignited by that smiling, charismatic fire brought on by the arrival of Magic Johnson.
Jerry West is volcanic, iridescent, obsessive. "The Logo" leaves the most prestigious and uncomfortable chair to a nobody, a wingman like Jack McKinney, and he does so with all the anger and wisdom of one who knows that in order for his franchise to shine it is necessary for him to step aside. What Jerry West did not know, however, is that that brave, reluctant move of his would open the door to a blazing career behind the scenes. A brilliant manager, a benchmark for all Lakers in the decades to come.
Throughout the season we witness so many appearances that basketball fans will have appreciated and just as many pop references that we certainly cannot overlook.
One out of all of them?
The arrival on the scene of Nike, now a sportswear giant but 50 years ago unknown to all and out of the loop that matters. Magic himself will reject Mr. Nike's bizarre proposal, preferring the safer, more mainstream Converse.
And then there is David Stern peeping in, Coach Auerbach still unaware that his dynasty is destined to die to make way for Mr. Buss's vision.
There are so many cues, winks, retreads, that it will make any NBA fan's heart burst.
