[En-Es] Celosia cristata

The fact that this plant has been born almost spontaneously in our garden makes me very happy. It has always seemed beautiful to me and it also shows the amazing capacity for survival that some species have.

Hola queridos amigos de Hive y comunidad de Petals. El que esta planta haya nacido de manera casi espontánea en nuestro jardín me alegra mucho. Siempre me ha parecido bonita y además demuestra la sorprendente capacidad de supervivencia que tienen algunas especies.

About 5 years some flowers of the so-called "rooster comb" were brought to me, so that I could sow their seeds.
They had always caught my attention for their bright colors and velvety appearance, but I had never had them at home.
Since I didn't have pots and fertilized land, I postponed planting them. For years the flowers, already dry, remained in the same container where he had kept them.
The time came when, during a cleanup, I threw the seeds out into the yard, thinking that they might have lost their ability to germinate.
In April of this year, I noticed that, on the sidewalk that divides the corridor from the patio, two plants grew that looked different from the weeds that we see growing there. It had green leaves with red veins, branches and stems.

Hace alrededor de 5 años me trajeron unas flores de las llamadas "cresta de gallo" para que sembrara sus semillas. Siempre me habían llamado la atención por sus colores brillantes y aspecto aterciopelado, pero nunca las había tenido en casa. Como no tenía macetas y tierra abonada fui posponiendo sembrarlas. Durante años las flores, ya secas, permanecieron en el mismo recipiente donde las había guardado. Llegó el momento en que, durante una limpieza, tire al patio las semillas pensando que podían haber perdido la capacidad de germinar. En abril de este año noté que, en la acera que divide el corredor del patio, nacieron dos plantas con aspecto diferente a las malezas que vemos crecer allí. Tenía hojas verdes con venas, ramas y tallos de color rojo.

A month later I found another similar one at the foot of the banana bushes and, after verifying that it was the same, I took it out very carefully and planted it in a pot. It seemed that this time if I was going to be able to have my velvet flowers.

Tras identificar la intenté sacar para trasplantarla, pero se rompieron sus raíces. Un mes después encontré otra parecida al pie de las matas de cambur y, despues de comprobar que se trataba de la misma, la saqué con mucho cuidado y sembré en un pote. Parecia que está vez si iba a poder tener mis flores de terciopelo.

Those hairy, pink and shiny inflorescences always seemed curious to me. Now that I look at it closely, I also notice that it attracts many insects, and is, at the same time, very resistant.

Siempre me parecieron curiosas esas inflorescencias peludas, rizadas y brillantes. Ahora, que la miro de cerca noto también que atrae muchos insectos, y es, a la vez, muy resistente.
