Hi, it is another wonderful moment today again to share with you the lessons learned From the reading of gospel of Mathew chapter 2. The chapter contains 23 verses. And it's all about the visit of the three wise men popularly known as the magi, The escape of Joseph and Mary and their new born baby from Egypt and their return to Nazareth. During the reign of Herod, Jesus was born. A star appeared to the magi and guided them from East to Jerusalem .
Seeking the newborn King of the Jews. Herod, the ruling king, is disturbed and plots to kill the child. The three wise men find Jesus with Mary in Bethlehem. They worshipped Him and presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the new born king of Jews . When it was time for them to go back to their station, the Angel of God warned them in a dream not to return to Herod and go back to their country by another route.
God knowing the thought of Hero, Send an angel and warn Joseph in a dream to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus to escape Herod's plan to kill the child. They obey and stay in Egypt until Herod dies.
Herod was very angry when the Magi did not report back to him. He then order the mass killing of all male children in Bethlehem two years old and below. After the death of Herod, Joseph is instructed in a dream to return to Nazareth. He obey and they settled in Nazareth. The following are the lessons learnt from today's readings or devotion
God's protection, direction and guidance are important as seen in His guidance of the three wise men from east, Joseph, Mary, and When is God that is leading or guiding you to do something,it must be perfectly okay.
Obedience to God's Instructions or massage like Joseph's response to divine dreams, can lead to safety from dangers, problems, Death and fulfillment of His plans.It is expected of us to always obey all instructions from God.
I also learned that the fulfillment of prophecies always establishes the sovereignty and accuracy of God’s Word.
