The definition of surrender means to cease resistance to. To stop resisting.
And when things get harder, if things get difficult, you automatically turn and surrender to that thing that God has delivered you from. You're still in bondage to it. At some point, that thing is no longer holding you. You're holding on to it.
Perverted images in the back of your mind even though God delivered you from pornography addiction. There is still unforgiveness in your heart even though God has removed you from that situation and you've walked away from it. It's still insecure and struggleable.
The body image or the fact that you don't look a certain way in the society. All of those parts of you are still attached to what God freed you from. And God has opened the gates to the cage, but you're still holding on to the bars.
God has untied you, but you're still holding on to the rope.
