Continuing the account of my tour of Prague but this time from the photographer's point of view. When you go on a trip you always wonder what kind of photographic equipment to take. Some people opt for a small compact camera so as not to carry a lot of weight. In principle this is very practical and is what my wife usually uses. Another advantage is that it is easy to set up, so you don't have to worry so much about the parameters. The other option is the use of larger format cameras and within this the option of carrying one or several lenses. I admire those people with their bags loaded with cameras and lenses, but how much weight do you carry on your back, it would not be my best option. And the last and most used are the mobile phones that fill the memory cards with selfies, whatsapp, social networks, etc. This is not what I like the most, although I recognize that the technology of the phones has reached extraordinary levels. My equipment is a Nikon D5200 with an 18-140 mm lens that, after a while of carrying it, you can feel its weight. In short, my advice, do what makes you happiest.
Siguiendo el relato de mi recorrida por Praga pero esta vez desde el punto de vista del fotógrafo. Cuando se sale de viaje siempre se plantea que tipo de equipo fotográfico llevar. Hay quienes si inclinan por una cámara compacta de pequeño tamaño para no cargar con peso. Esto en principio es muy práctico y es la que usualmente usa mi esposa. Otra de las ventajas es la facilidad de su configuración lo que permite no estar tan pendiente de los parámetros a usar. La otra opción es la utilización de cámaras de mayor formato y dentro de ésta la de llevar un solo objetivo o varios. Yo admiro esas personas con sus bolsos cargados de cámaras y objetivos, pero ¿cuánto peso se carga en la espalda?, no sería mi mejor opción. Y la última y más utilizada son los teléfonos celulares que llenan de selfies las tarjetas de memorias, los whatsap, las redes sociales, etc. Ésta no es lo que más me gusta, aunque reconozco que la tecnología de los teléfonos ha alcanzado niveles extraordinarios. Mi equipo es una Nikon D5200 con un objetivo 18-140 mm que así no más, luego de un tiempo de cargarla, se hace sentir su peso. En definitiva, mi consejo, hagan lo que más felicidad les produce.
On this trip I took several photos in black and white and looking at it now I should have taken them in colour and then passed them on and thus have both versions. There are those who say that you should take the photos in black and white directly to see the result immediately and there are those who prefer to have both options and then choose which one to use. There is always time to remove colour, but painting them is more difficult. Of course, with today's editing programmes you can do wonders, although there is nothing more gratifying than a good raw product. Then everyone will draw their own conclusions and decide what to do at any given moment, just like in life itself, no more and no less.
En este viaje realicé varias fotos en blanco y negro y viéndolo ahora debería haberlas sacada en color y luego pasarlas y tener así las dos versiones. Están los que dicen que hay que sacar las fotografías en blanco y negro directamente para ver el resultado en lo inmediato y están los que prefieren tener las dos opciones y elegir luego cual usar. Para quitar color siempre hay tiempo, pintarlas ya es más difícil. Por supuesto que con los programas de edición hoy se pueden hacer maravillas, aunque no hay nada más gratificante que un buen producto en bruto. Luego cada uno sacará sus conclusiones y decidirá qué cosa hacer en cada momento como sucede con la vida misma, ni más ni menos.
Personally I am embarrassed to photograph people in the street, but taking advantage of these places so full of tourists, nobody knows what everyone is doing and it is the moment to photograph individuals and even try several shots without the person involved being aware of it. It happened to me with the photo of the sailor, the gentleman was in his own thoughts, I was a bit far away and surrounded by a lot of people, so I was not so exposed, and that allowed me to take several shots without disturbing anyone.
En lo personal me da vergüenza fotografiar a personas en la calle, pero aprovechando estos lugares tan llenos de turistas, nadie sabe qué hace cada uno y es el momento de fotografiar individuos y hasta probar varias tomas sin que el involucrado se entere. Me paso con la foto del marinero, el señor estaba en sus propios pensamientos, yo un poco lejos y rodeado de gran cantidad de personas, y así no quedar tan expuesto, eso me permitió hacer varias tomas con tranquilidad y sin molestar a nadie.
