MONOMAD CHALLENGE St James Church Defford

Up staying with a mate in Worcestershire for the weekend and the local village church across the road is an ideal opportunity for a bit of B&W photography.

Bits of the church are 14th century medieval like the base of the bell tower.

The dating is difficult but architecture and the style of windows that changes over time give clues and help.

One of the oldest part of the church is thought to be the doorway which may be 12 century.

The key stone in the form of a carved queens head above the door is thought to be even earlier.

The key is quite old too.

Inside the church is very simple and plain in keeping with a small village church.

But the stained glass window above the alter is probability better in colour.
