Monomad: Waiting for the Rain

Here's my entry for the daily #monomad challenge hosted and curated by @monochromes.

It hasn't rained since last week. The hot weather during the day is enough to make me thirsty too often. At my home, my kids don't want to turn off the stand fan for even a moment. But it doesn't really help you with stifling heat.

It feels like liters of sweat are coming out of your pore cavities even though you just finished taking a bath. Faced with such conditions, you can only hope that it will rain soon. A wish that was repeated every day until the rain really came down.

Standing facing the front yard of my house, I saw that the grass had already turned slightly yellow. I know they must have missed the rain too.

Some old rotten wood was piled near the parapet of my house. Its surface is covered with split gill mushrooms. Even though they can endure the heat of the sun for a long time, the mushrooms have stiffened and dried up, except that their hair is still as soft as wool. They still look beautiful, even in their pathetic condition.

Do they also miss the rain? I don't know.
