Gifts: They don't have to be expensive

Before the month of December folds its chapter, one big special celebration comes - Christmas. It has always been a great season despite the happenings around us. What makes it even better is that we always have each other to celebrate this season.

During our Institutional Mid-Year Convention, one of the highlights is giving tokens to anyone. It doesn't have to be very fancy and expensive, yet students took it to another level - simple but filled with warm messages that are worth reading.

It was a socialization activity, by the way. Hence, the gifts are given to random students. As a senior, I randomly gave my tokens to some students from lower years without expecting something in return.

As I gave my gifts, the smile I saw on their faces are more than enough to fill my heart with joy.

But I was astounded and filled with gratitude as some of them gave me tokens too. I do not know them but I felt the genuineness of their heart as they held their tokens to me.

This particular set of gifts touched my heart. It's not being biased as all these things really filled my heart with joy and gratitude, but the message from this particular gift boosted the raging fire within me to keep doing my best in achieving our common dream, which is to become Certified Public Accountants someday.

I am really speechless and having immense bliss.

These things I have received this Christmas season are something to be cherished. They all have their purpose and I am grateful that I can truly use them as I persevere in reaching my dream of becoming a Certified Public Accountant someday.

Indeed, a gift does not have to be really expensive to make someone happy. Be it simple or not, what matters the most is that it comes from the heart.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
