Traditionally, Bunny Hashes are a women's only event and in some more crude parts of the world the Bunny Hash is actually called the P**sy Hash but we tone it down a bit here in Chiang Mai. Ok, no we don't. I have no idea why we decided to name it Bunny but I wasn't around when that decision was made.
The Hash situation here in Chiang Mai and Thailand as a whole has become a bit desperate as of late and exceptions have been made across the board so to speak, so lately, men have been allowed to attend the Bunny events, but at a great price.
One would think that the men would return the favor and allow the women to attend the Monday, men-only Hash but that is not the case. Women are still forbidden from attending but we do joke and tell them that they are welcome to attend but must do so topless. So far no one has taken us up on this offer.
The women Managers of the Bunny Hash have prepared for this invasion and have made it very clear that if you want to attend and don't have the correct equipment downstairs that your appearance will be altered in order to comply with the rest of the women's team. You can see the results in the following photos.
To suggest that males are picked on a bit at these events would be an understatement, but since it is all in the name of good fun I don't think anyone really minds. I think we could have done without the makeup but hey! A rule is a rule and in the Bunny Hash, the men have zero say as to how things are run.
The women's hash tends to always have food at the end and well, the men's one almost never does aside from some scraps of fruit and some potato chips here and there. We are more focused on the ice cold beer.
One of the Hashers made a critical error and honestly should know better: He wore brand new shoes to an event and well this is not permitted without punishment.
When this happens it is required that you drink a beer out of said shoe. Some Hashes around the world force that the beer actually be sitting inside the actual shoe but we are a bit kinder here I guess and the only thing you have to do is drink it in the cup, in the shoe. That isn't so bad is it?
All in all it was a decent crowd and even though these events are less English oriented since a vast majority of the attendees are Thai, it is still a lot of fun. They can speak English after all, they just would prefer not too. It is their country and they can do what they want!
Despite our low numbers we are still running at least 3 events per week and we would like to extend and invitation to everyone out there to come along if they want to. Full information is available on our official website.
