Happy day and beginning of the week, this is my first publication in this community and I come with great joy to share my first experience with planting, I am Ana Maria from Venezuela and for a long time I wanted to put hands to the land, so you know a little about me I will tell you about my ancestors specifically my grandmothers they were farmers and of course both had to plant and harvest many fruits and vegetables that they consumed, I have beautiful memories of the work that my grandmother Ana did in her yard and thanks to that we got to eat pineapple, corn, onion, cilantro, chili, among others, in addition to its ornamental plants, medicinal and beautiful flowers of roses and sunflowers, my mother followed this custom and has always been in love with medicinal plants sowing oregano, malojillo, mint, mint, good grass and also plants to decorate the house as the jades.

I grew up watching how my mother released her sadness and anguish by sowing and fertilizing her plants, she is happy every time she is in contact with plants, this has made me reflect on my life and for some years now I have asked myself the question, how is it possible that I have not sowed anything yet? I have this need to sow and harvest something, to see it grow and bear fruit, maybe it is age and it is a sign that I am becoming an older woman or simply my awareness is opening up about the importance of nature and what I am contributing to the world, I hope it is the latter.

Among the things I want to do before I pass away or die is to plant a tree, I have it written down in my list of things to do, I want it to be a leafy tree that gives shade and shelter to those who need it and I would also like it to bear fruit, it may be a mamon tree like the one at home or a mango tree which is another fruit that I like a lot, I have not made up my mind, but I am going to do it, for the time being I started with an experiment that I am going to show you, I call it an experiment because I don't know if it will bear fruits, but the fact of taking my pick and digging the hole pleased me so much that I want to share it with you.

My first sowing

For months I had been saying that I wanted to plant something, but I did not know what or how to do it, my mom listened to me and gave me ideas to plant something that I could see grow and bear fruit quickly as the dressings, chili or onion, but I wanted something bigger and more substantial, without telling me anything she got 3 children of cambur, as it is known in my country, or banana, and when she had them at home she gave me the surprise. I had no more excuses, I had to do what I said I wanted without procrastinating and see if I could get fruits.

My mom doesn't know anything about bananas and I even less, but I consulted the master of all YouTube and among so many options I chose a video and followed her steps.

1. First I chose the place where I was going to plant, cleaned it from the bush and loosened the soil a little.
2. I measured the distance between one hole and another of two meters, as recommended in the video, so that when they grow they will shade each other.
3. Each hole should be about 25 centimeters deep.
4. Clean the roots of dry leaves for planting.
5. Insert and cover with soil without much pressure.
6. Watered frequently without overdoing it so as not to rot the roots.
7. And finally to have patience, in those I am.

That day was a lot of fun, I had the help to dig the holes from my aunt who is a special girl with Down syndrome, my mom was the photographer and I also had the presence of my canine son Duke, who did not let me do the job well because he took advantage of the moment to make me affectionate and lick me everywhere, I think Duke was taking revenge for all the annoyance he always feels when I kiss him.

That day was very nice because I could see how happy my mom was to see me planting, we all are very excited to see a sprout and I am anxious for this to happen, the whole process according to the information I researched lasts 9 months, so by November I should be eating my first camburs, but first the plant has to grow and that is what keeps me on edge, anyway it is my first time and if it does not work I will keep trying until it is a success, I will share this whole process on my blog and in this community.

Feliz día e inicio de semana, esta es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad y vengo con mucha alegría a compartir mi primera experiencia con la siembra, soy Ana María de Venezuela y desde hace mucho tiempo quería poner manos a la tierra, para que sepas un poco de mí te contaré sobre mis ancestros específicamente mis abuelas ellas fueron campesinas y por supuesto ambas tuvieron que sembrar y cosechar muchas frutas y vegetales que consumieron, tengo bonitos recuerdos del trabajo que hacía mi abuela Ana en su patio y gracias a eso llegamos a comer piña, maíz, cebollìn, cilantro, ají, entre otras, además de sus plantas ornamentales, medicinales y sus bellas flores de rosas y girasoles, mi mamá siguió esta costumbre y siempre ha estado enamorada de las platas medicinales sembrando orégano, malojillo, menta, hierba buena y también plantas para decorar la casa como los jades.

Crecí viendo como mi mamá liberaba sus tristezas y angustias sembrando y abonando sus plantas, ella es feliz cada vez que está en contacto con las plantas, esto me ha hecho reflexionar sobre mi vida y desde hace algunos años me he hecho la pregunta, ¿cómo es posible que aún no haya sembrado nada? Tengo esa necesidad de sembrar y cosechar algo, verlo crecer y dar frutos, tal vez sea la edad y es muestra de que me estoy volviendo una mujer mayor o simplemente se me está abriendo la consciencia sobre la importancia de la naturaleza y lo que estoy aportando al mundo, espero que sea la última.

Entre las cosas que quiero hacer antes de pasar de plano o morir es sembrar un árbol, lo tengo anotado en mi lista de cosas por hacer, quiero que sea frondoso que de sombra y cobijo a quien lo necesite y también me gustaría que diera frutos, puede que sea un árbol de mamón como el que está en casa o de mango que es otra fruta que me gusta mucho, no me decido, pero si lo voy a hacer, por lo pronto inicie con un experimento que es él vengó a mostrar, lo llamo experimento porque no sé si dará frutos, pero el hecho de tomar mi pico y cavar el hueco me complació tanto que quiero compartirlo contigo.

Mi primera siembra

Hacía meses que venía diciendo que quería sembrar algo, pero no sabía que, ni como hacerlo, mi mamá me escuchaba y me daba ideas que sembrara algo que pudiera ver crecer y dar frutos rápidos como los aliños, el ají o cebollin, pero yo quería algo más grande y sustancioso, ella sin decirme nada consiguió 3 hijos de cambur como se conoce en mi país, o banana y cuando los tuvo en casa me dio la sorpresa. Ya no tenía excusas, tenía que hacer lo que decía que quería sin procrastinar más y ver si consigo frutos.

Mi mamá no sabe nada de bananas y yo mucho menos, pero consulté al maestro de todos YouTube y entre tantas opciones escogí un video y seguí sus pasos.

1. Primero escogí el lugar donde pensaba sembrar, lo limpie de monte y afloje un poco la tierra.
2. Medí la distancia entre un hueco y otro de dos metros, como recomendaban en el video, eso para que cuando crezcan se den sombra una planta con la otra.
3. Cada hueco debía medir unos 25 centímetros de profundidad.
4. Limpie las raíces de hojas secas para sembrar.
5. Introducid y tape con tierra sin hacer mucha presión.
6. Regué de forma frecuente sin exagerar para no pudrir las raíces.
7. Y por último tener paciencia, en esas estoy.

Ese día fue muy divertido, tuve la ayuda para cavar los huecos de mi tía que es una niña especial con síndrome de Down, mi mamá hizo de fotógrafa y también tuve la presencia de mi hijo canino Duke, que no me dejaba hacer bien el trabajo porque se aprovechó del momento para hacerme cariño y lamerme por todas partes, yo creo que Duke se estaba vengando de todo el fastidio que siempre siente cuando yo lo beso.

Ese día fue muy bonito porque pude ver la felicidad que le generaba a mi mamá verme sembrar, a todas nos da mucha ilusión ver algún brote y estoy ansiosa de que esto suceda, todo el proceso según la información que investigue dura 9 meses, así que para el mes de noviembre debería estar comiendo mis primeros cambures, pero antes tiene que crecer la planta y es lo que me mantiene con los nervios de punta, de igual forma es mi primera vez y si no resulta lo seguiré intentando hasta que sea un éxito, todo este proceso lo compartiré en mi blog y en esta comunidad.
