It is currently the school holidays. I am a teacher so I was back in the classroom today tidying and setting it up for after the holidays. I get a lot done without students around. Our school has a vegetable garden. It has a nice rhubarb plant. I harvested some and cut away the dead leaves on the plant. The stalks are good to eat but the leaves are poisonous.
When I got home I washed them and then cut them up into chunks.
I put them in a pot with a little bit of water, cinnamon and a small amount of sugar (I am trying to cut down on sugar so I don't put much). I cook for about 15min on a low/medium heat stirring occasionally.
After a while the rhubarb will break up and become mushy. Now I have stewed rhubarb which I will put on my porridge tomorrow for breakfast. It also goes nice with vanilla ice cream when warm.
Hope you enjoyed my update today.
