On Monday morning I headed out at 6AM to pick peas in the Small garden before it got really hot. My brother had said there were a ton of fat pods out there on Sunday night. So I brought a big bowl. This is what I found.
The lower right corner shows where they even went after the too old sugar pea pods for the peas. There were almost no green peas left. I got quite a few sugar pods though.
I went out for some raspberries for breakfast on Sunday morning and found 2 squirrels in there. There were no ripe ones left. Monday morning I found 2 they had missed. Sigh…
Also in the Small garden the melon has its first flower, and there were several bees in it.
In the Big garden the cabbages have started heads.
I went over to see how the peach tree was doing. It’s not touching the ground, yet. Tons of elderberries still green though.
The Little Trees II’s grapes are doing well. I hope they get an arbor soon…
Behind the grapes and under the white oak, the yellow jewelweed is about 8’ tall. I’ve never seen it so big.

Old North garden – marshmallow flowers
The magnolia is flowering again for the second time this year. It might be because some of the flowers got frosted earlier, but I don’t really know why.
New Herb garden – oregano in flower
So that’s what’s interesting the second week of July in the yard.
