Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra responded to a recent tweet from actor Simu Liu about StarCraft, possibly hinting at something new for the franchise. A lot has changed since the release of StarCraft 2 in 2010. Twelve years is a long time for fans to wait without knowing anything.

In 2020, Blizzard announced that it would no longer be developing new content for StarCraft 2, but since then there have been no announcements about a new game in the series. Still there remain plenty of good reasons to play StarCraft 2, from the still very popular competitive eSports scene to the fact that it became free-to-play in 2017.

On Twitter, in response to a tweet from Marvel's Shang Chi star Simu Liu, Blizzard head Mike Ybarra gave a vague hint that there might be something else in the works for StarCraft. Liu simply tweeted, in all caps, "PLEASE SAVE STARCRAFT," with an accompanying GIF of a Protoss warrior. While Ybarra merely responded with a smiley face, his response and his position within Blizzard could provide a clue as to the future of the franchise.

Even knowing that this may mean nothing, for fans of the franchise it is a small boost that gives faith that there is something in the works.
