Gaming thoughts #2 What do you play for?

Welcome to this new post today I ask you, what do you play for?

It happens that today I was playing For Honor and when I finished the game, I was left with a feeling, an internal doubt Why do I play this game , but this question does not go to an answer like "I play to distract myself" or "I play because I want to pass the time", the question goes more to the goal that one seeks as a player to start a new game.

Let me explain, when playing singleplayer games one finds a motivation "I want to complete this game / I like the story of this game and I want to know how it ends / It's a challenge (Souls Like) / etc". However when we play multiplayer games, what is the motivation behind it? For example, a player of competitive games, such as League of Legends, Valorant, Rainbow Six, etc, will seek to be better and climb each division. But for example, a Battlefield player, why does he play Battlefield. While this game has levels and upgrades to unlock, would you continue to play if you already have everything unlocked?

Going back to the beginning, For Honor is a game with a small Player-base and a not very active ranked mode, so, outside of unlocking characters, what is the reason to dedicate several hours of gameplay to it, if in the end they might not have an "added value" for me.

This has been a question I've constantly had with every game I play and it has made me abandon many games for not finding a reason to go the extra mile.
And you, have you had the same feeling, what do you think these games are missing?

I hope you enjoyed your reading and if you liked it or have any suggestions you can write it in the comments, thank you very much.
