POLYCHAIN MONSTERS A BRIEF REVIEW
Hello HIVE Gamers! its me again bringing you a brief report on play to earn gaming opportunities, as usual i always do my research first, i spend some money on NFT's and i always try to get in on these opportunities when they are cheap or just beginning, checkout my blog for more content, with that being said LETS GO!
Blockchain game of the week for me is Polychain Monsters, i've been observing this game for months! waiting for an opportunity and January 2022 is just ripe for it, i'm a big lover of pokemon games, i've played all the series from Pokemon red and blue up to 2021's brilliant diamond and shining pearl, the truth is polychain monsters brings back all those memories i've had with pokemon games, unlike axie infiniy and other pokemon wannabe's the developers of this game have actually taken the time to create a unique open world pokemon type battle simulator with good graphic quality and gameplay elements that enhance the user experience so lets talk about that.
As with all Play to earn games you need to purchase NFT's to start this game, NFT's in this game come in the form of booster packs which can be purchased directly from the games main website https://polychainmonsters.com/ or through Binance mystery boxes or Pancakeswap. These booster packs cost 1 $PMON token = $6 (previously valued at $40) to open one and it contains 3 random 3D NFT monsters with random stats, abilities, type and rarity.
The rarity of a Polychain monster depends on its looks, some monsters are rarer than others based on the type of horn, the skin color, the background and whether its shiny or not, the NFT's can be minted once opened and transferred to the ethereum blockchain and sold on OPENSEA or on the games own marketplace TOFUNFT.
Once a booster is opened a player is able to view the attributes to determine the monsters rarity, the higher the rarity the higher the NFT will sell for, rarity attributes are calculated in percentages, the lower the percentage the higher the rarity of the monster, highest rarities start below 2%.
There is also an option for collectors who aren't interested in playing to earn but still want to earn, NFT's can be staked on the developers website and a percentage of the $PMON pool will be allocated to them to earn passively, however earning percentage depends on points and points are earned when a person buys a booster, the number of points earned depend on the rarity of the monster. To be honest there is something for everybody even people who are just interested in the token have opportunities to farm the token.
Now this is the fun and interesting part where we actually get to play the game, upon launch players are directed to a character and world selection screen where they can select one of two default characters male or female, players can also import characters from other metaverses or mint NFT cosmetics. After this players just need to enter their gamer name and and select a server/world, the game also gives players the option to create their own server if other servers are full. Once players are in the game they need to click on the summoning book which will allow them to choose the NFT's that they wish to use in-game, the minimum requirement for PVE and PVP battles are 6 monsters. In order to start a PVE battle players will have to walk around in grassy areas to encounter wild monsters, PVP battles can be initiated when a player clicks another player and requests to battle them, winning PVP battles will award the player with 5 in-game coins while PVE battles will award players with 1 in-game coin per win, coins can be used to craft new skills for your monsters or to buy healing or experience potions to level up your monsters, making them stronger faster and more reliable.
players have a limited number of attack points located at the bottom right of the screen which can be used in battle, therefore this requires players to adopt strategy and use options such as skip and block to preserve attack points for the next attack they wish to execute, however stronger monsters can KO lower level monsters with just two attacks in succession.
Monsters typings can either be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the enemy it is facing, fire types will naturally be weaker to water types , ghost will be weaker to psychic and so on and so forth, monsters gain experience to level up from winning battles, when a monster is out of health its owner can talk to the NPC near the summoning book to heal monsters however this will set you back some in-game coin, there are other ways such as completing fetch quests from NPC characters with the "!" on them to gather wheat, make bread and feed monsters that are out of health. The only other option aside all these is to wait one hour for your monsters to regain health.
The world is large and open therefore players are required to explore and find new areas and enhancements, players can also set up an in-game shop to showcase and sell their monsters in the game to other players in the server. With that being said i believe polychain monsters is the next best thing to happen in the blockchain gaming economy, presenting unique opportunities and fantastic gameplay that is levels higher than any other pokemon type game currently on the blockchain and ofcourse we should expect some improvements, the discord is active and flourishing and the whole economy is community driven with its own type of DAO. enjoy the Alpha test at https://polymon.world/game/
