Braid is a platform, puzzle and logic video game created by independent developer Jonathan Blow for the Xbox Live Arcade service on Xbox 360, released in 2008 and also released for Windows, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Linux systems.

In the game, players take on the role of Tim, a man in search of a princess. His relationship with the princess is unclear, and the only part that is fleshed out is that Tim has made some sort of mistake that he hopes to right or, if possible, erase.

There are six game worlds, and a text at the beginning of each world reveals more information about the adventure of Tim and his princess. The themes discussed evoke forgetfulness, desire and frustration.

Braid is played by solving physical puzzles in a typical platform game environment, similar to Super Mario Bros. One of the key elements of the game is the ability to reverse time and ‘rewind’ actions performed, even after dying. There is no limit to the number of times the player can rewind time.

Through its non-linear narrative and inventive level design, the game challenges players to think creatively and explore the endless possibilities offered by time manipulation.

With its beautiful hand-drawn aesthetic, evocative music and enigmatic narrative, ‘Braid’ captivates players with its unique atmosphere and innovative approach to puzzle solving.

As Tim delves into the recesses of his mind and heart, players are taken on an emotional journey full of surprises, revelations and reflections on love, loss and redemption.

The look of the worlds and backgrounds was designed by David Hellman, responsible for the drawing in the critically acclaimed webcomic, and the character graphics were originally created by Edmund McMillen, but later redrawn by Hellman to better match the prevailing style of the settings, relegating the original graphics to prototype animation.
