In this third post about my Hardcore Minecraft Adventure, I would like to whinge and complain about the complete lack of resources in this 1.18 update.
Despite the diamonds in the image above, there is hardly anything in this game anymore.
I'm actually needing to burn all of the wood and turn that into charcoal because I'm not finding any coal anywhere. Usually I have so many stacks of iron I don't know what to do with them, now I'm struggling to keep up my supply of iron tools. Usually I have enough diamonds by now to make my first armour, weapon, and tool sets but I only have 8. Usually I am absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of redstone I find that I leave most of it scattered across the floor, but now I have less than half a stack.
I ended up investigating if this was a common thing now or if maybe I just got a bad seed, or maybe I chose a bad place to dig.
And it turns out it's a common thing now.

When they updated the world generation, they updated the ore generation too. Where once I would mine at y11 and stumble across everything, now I need several different mines to get what I want.
If you want coal and emeralds, you need to be digging between mountain height and y48!
If you want iron, around y16 is best. Gold? -16.
And diamonds? Redstone? Go on. Go down. Further down. ALL the way down to -54.
So basically, if you want to have a successful mine set up now. You need to set up branches at four different heights.
I mean, I guess that makes more sense... but what a pain in the butt.
When I found that out, I kind of just closed my game and suddenly didn't really feel like playing anymore. Ugh.
Before I closed the game though, this idiot trader fell into my backyard and refused to leave.
I found an abandoned mineshaft with only normal spider spawners in it, no cave spiders. And nothing good in any of the chests. I did take all of the railtracks though so I can better traverse my own mine. Thaaaaanks.
And then... I climbed up on high!
And admired my small region.
(Really I was looking for a possible nearby village, but alas, I am alone.)
And now I'm just trying to gather the willpower to open it back up and deal with this new generation they've thrust upon us.
I must find the strength! I can do it! 😬 Technically this manner of doing things is better, it gives you more incentive to explore other areas, but... I just need a moment. 😵
At least my house looks nice. 🤷♀
