Not my typical game
Armored Core 6 is From Softwares newest game. There is a lot of hype around this game since From Software has been killin it recently with the games they have been releasing.
I never played any of the other Armored Core games, and I am not really into mech games at all, but since this is a From Software game, I knew I had to give it a try because they are probably my favorite video game company.
I am playing this game on my PS5 and it runs beautifully. The graphics are really cool. There is always so much going on on the screen.
This game is totally different than anything that From Software has released recently. One of the only things that remind you that you are playing a From Soft game is the difficulty. This game can be pretty tough.
The first boss has been known to piss a lot of people off. I knew what I was getting into playing this game, so I wasn't upset when I died a few times on it, but I persisted and beat the boss on like my fourth try. This boss is a stuck point for a lot of people though, and unlike many of the other From Soft games with a very hard first boss, you HAVE to beat this one. Other From Soft games, you are expected to die to the first boss and the story still progresses, but this one you must beat it to move on in the game.

There are so many different options to customize your mech to your play style or enemies you are facing that it can get a bit overwhelming. The good thing is that you can refund anything you buy for the complete cost, which is nice because it allows you to try out new builds without having to worry. Plus you can repeat missions to earn more money to buy more upgrades. The game pretty much throws money at you to try experiment with new builds.
I am a few hours into the game and I am enjoying it so far. It isn't as fun as Elden Ring was, but that may be because I am not into mech games at all, but I really enjoy the combat in the game. The story is pretty bland and you get bits and pieces of it just through dialogue between missions without any real cut scenes, but at least you dont have to learn the story by reading item descriptions like most From Soft games.
This game is not going to appeal to everyone, but it is solid. From Software is known for making amazing games that play very well. They aren't like many other game developers that are pumping out a bunch of shitty games each year and you can tell that they halfassed the games just to push it out and make money. From Software actually cares about their audience and the gaming industry. It would be cool if more developers put out quality like they do.
If you are a fan of mech battles and difficult games, you will love this game. The story is only supposed to be around 25 hours, which is pretty nice considering so many games are just full of shitty side quests that just fill time so they can say the game has over 100 hours of game play. Armored Core 6 is a solid game.
