Not Only Digital Gaming, But Also Table-top Gaming Helps Us Treat Depression

I've been thinking a lot about roleplaying games lately.

I mean, there's always been a bunch of them out there—D&D, World of Darkness, Pathfinder… the list goes on and on. But lately I've been thinking about what makes one better than another. And it might not surprise you to hear that tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Critical Role are my favorite form of entertainment right now—but it still made me wonder: what makes these games so special?

I think the answer is pretty simple: they're all about community. It's great when you have a group of people who love playing together and getting into your characters' heads, but it's even better when those people are real-life friends who feel like family. And that's why I love RPGs so much—they allow us to connect with each other in a way that other forms of media don't allow for me or my friends (and yes, they do exist!).

But there's something else at work too. When we play an RPG, we're taking part in something bigger than ourselves—we're building something together that has its own integrity and history and future. This can be incredibly fulfilling

While there's nothing wrong with playing a video game or watching a TV show, there are tons of people who enjoy playing tabletop RPGs. Tabletop RPGs are great because they give you the chance to explore a world and play out your own stories in the middle of the action.

Tabletop RPGs are also known for their ability to help people with their mental health. In some cases, these games can even be used as an alternative treatment for depression and other mental disorders.

If you've never been a part of one of these games, it's easy to think they're only for people who like sci-fi movies and fantasy novels. But there's, believe me so much more to it than that!
These games are like therapy on steroids—they offer support, friendship, and structure all in one place. Not only does it help treat depression and anxiety (which are often related), but it also helps you feel connected to other people in an incredible way.

The idea behind tabletop RPGs is that instead of sitting in front of a computer or console screen like most people do these days, you sit around a table and interact with each other through roleplaying. This allows people to work together using their imaginations, which can have a positive effect on their mental health.

Some are more serious than others (like Pathfinder, and Call of Cthulhu, Blades in the Dark, Fate), and some are more lighthearted (like DND), but all of them offer a unique style of gameplay that can be fun for everyone involved.

Some people use tabletop role-playing games as an opportunity to explore their creativity through art or writing. Others use them as a way to combat depression or anxiety by immersing themselves in worlds full of magic and adventure.
