Hi guys! This week has been quite overwhelming for me, and it's weird because it was a drag but everything also seemed to be on 2x speed.
I struggled with deciding a song to cover.
More daunting was the struggle to even want to cover a song in the first place.
Thank God for my friend's nudging @babymoyin.
I eventually settled on one of my long-time favorite songs, Dance monkey by Tones & I.
Recording was a hassle with bandlab acting up and I had to settle for a smule recording, which I'd say was alright.
One of the most beautiful things about this song is the contrast in the seemingly happy-go-lucky vibe it presents and what it's been said to actually depict.
The song describes the average human life, how we actively or passively live in patterned cycles because we have to or feel we need to.
In short, it's about being made to dance like a monkey to get through life's monotony.
