Hello dear Hive Community, I hope this post finds you well! I am writing this post today to introduce my city to you. I had some spare time this morning, the light was good and so I wen’t to the city center to take some pics.
This is Rabat, capital city of the Kingdom of Morocco, a bustling metropolis of about 1.5m inhabitants, located on the north-west coast of Africa. The city has a fascinating blend of traditional and modern culture and architecture. Today I want to show you the traditional side of the place that I have grown to love over the years.
This is the street I live in, about 10km from the Medina.
First stop is the Garden of Nouzhat Hassan. I often come here in summer when it is hot. There are not many places with tall bushy trees to hide from the burning sun, so this is a good place to come and sit.
When I go to the Medina, I usually avoid the crowded touristic part so I enter through one of the smaller gates, called Bab Chellah.
We go past lots of shoes…
And lots of carpets.
Coming out at the back of the Medina, we are looking over to Oudaya, one of the oldest parts of town.
This is outside the famous Andalusian Garden.
Here are some traditional workers quarters.
Ashohada Mosque
Gate Bab al Had
city walls
Gate Bab Rouah
So this is a quick circuit around the outside of the Medina, to show you some of the traditional spots of the city center. In the next post I will show you the modern side of this great city of Rabat. Cya
