I was going through the list of silver shown since January this year, and I did not see this one, so I am showing it now.
Asahi Silver Round: Buffalo
With the release of their first Buffalo, Asahi has made an expected entry into the Silver Round market. Their buffalo round has a superb polish and quality.
It features a buffalo and an Indian head that is "frosted," with a finish akin to that of mirrored proof. It does distinguish Asahi Silver Buffalo from the rest of private mints' silver Buffalo.
It was hard to photograph them, lol.
There are no sharp edges on the silver round. There is non-jagged, smooth reeding around the border.
I intend to add to my stack of silver rounds and heartily endorse the Asahi Buffalo to any stacker!
When the buffalo nickel coin was first introduced in 1913, it immediately became well-liked. James Earl Fraser intended for his currency to depict the American frontier, and the public adored it. This design was used on the currency until 1938, when the Jefferson nickel took its place.
The American Indian Head/buffalo design was changed since it was difficult to make coins with it and it didn't last very long. Because of its exquisite design and nostalgic appeal, stackers and collectors alike still hunt for Buffalo nickels to add to their collections.
These are Silver Coins, Rounds, and Bars I have featured in 2024:
