Warm weather nostalgia

People who have lived in the Pacific Northwest their whole lives are always bewildered as to why I would ever leave the land of perpetual sunshine, not realizing that when sunshine perpetuates, it becomes mundane.

One does not feel the poetic ache of longing for the golden orb of cozy in a place where the rainy season is only three days long. Springy day pop-ups sandwiched between dark days of drizzle that tickle one's senses with warm weather nostalgia just don't happen in the fast paradise of Southern California.

Sure, winters here suck. They are long and cold, full of sloppy wetness and half-melted hazards. But the contrast, the rewards of endurance...
they have yet to disappoint.

Warm weather is coming, Charlie. Any day, now. Any day...
