Is Splinterlands the golden goose?
I decided a few months ago to quit champ league and start selling off. Wasn’t sure where I was going but I had to do something I was spinning my tires, I couldn’t earn in tournaments because they were not on mobile yet and I have no cpu. I could get top ten but not often enough. The problem was I couldn’t afford a Valnamor for $500 usd.
Buying and selling cards is a huge pain in the ass on a phone. Hundreds of singles to sell one at a time (peakmonters and phones don’t mix either).
The sales were fast and furious, but i sucked at selling dark energy crystals. Dec was the first crypto I’ve traded ever. I’ve been playing a crypto based game and knew nothing about trading it. I was not very proficient at using hive engine plus everything I did was on my phone which makes all processes very slow. I was looking at sales and seeing what I was getting and saw that I was losing my shirt on cash out. I ended up with 1900 bucks in btc and I was buying it high. I was underwhelmed and watching a crypto market instead of playing a game. Boring!
I wasnt completely stupid on my sell off. I had two accounts (one managed by my daughter @calynn) and there were cards that I knew were way too cheap and I wasn’t selling. My daughter was even smarter and didn’t sell any summoners or legendaries. I decided that instead of buying crypto I was gonna buy gold commons and rares and compete in silver league with two accounts.
After being a champ league guy silver was kinda boring. The competition was mostly bots and almost never played a top player. After about 4 seasons I finally got 1st. It’s a total grind down in silver. Exhausting!
So I finally win silver league, (clubbing baby seals is no fun) I felt way to advanced playing in silver league but I didn’t have gold league caliber cards yet. I check in what my daughters account is up to and she hasn’t played in 2 weeks. I stacked hers with gold everything (except legendaries) and she’s not using it! Her cards were way more fun than mine and there was more of them. I’m looking through the market about a week before sps and I’m like….whoa I have 40 k in cards in two accounts. After the first sell off I was underwhelmed. (20k champ deck at the time)My financial situation was shit and I had all these cards that I do not want to sell. The prices were so high I knew it had to be done. It was time to make some money. I ask my daughter if she wants to cash out and make one account for competition and she goes for it!
By this point I had quite the gold collection built up off of my original sell off. Untamed was selling out and the sps token was on its way. I managed to buy a few hundred packs at the end and got real lucky. I’ve always felt like the cards weren’t in my favour but my time had come. I got 3 llama gold in the final stretch. I also finally got a loot chest with 55k dec! The tide was turning for me after feeling like the game didn’t favour me forever!
Selling for me is a huge chore I don’t wanna! (Please start making things more mobile friendly). So I asked my guild mate @ allcapsonezero to do the selling and trading for me. i got myself a trustworthy crypto banker! He can list all the cards in seconds! This time around the cards were priced at 5-10 times what I paid for them! Than dec spikes for 2 weeks straight and im making hundreds on exit! I’m selling off cards like crazy and my accounts are still increasing in value!
I’m thinking this is nuts, I’ve pulled $12k usd and have 50 k worth of cards, this is life changing money!
There’s a lot of people out there looking at “cashing out” I know I was one of them. What we need to understand is that the cards are just another crypto market and that there’s a cycle that it follows and we need to make the appropriate moves at certain spots on the cycle.
I’ve diversified my crypto now thanks to my crypto banker, all I had was monsters before. Markets are up, sps is raking I’m rounding out my gold league deck with gold including gfls:-) It looks like I’ve made 100k on a 5 k investment. and with sps it just keeps on giving! I will be sniffing around on top of gold league once I figure them out.
I believe that Splinterlands is the golden goose. The eggs are humongous right now, they will get smaller again but that cycle isn’t here at the moment. The 100k in assets will come back to earth but next time it goes up I wanna see 200 k plus. If I’m making this much as a minnow what are the whales making?
