As I told you in the Week through Adrian's Lenses from Friday, Matt showed up to another conversation with The People's Guild.
I hadn't had time to listen to the 2-hour conversation then, before writing the weekly news roundup, but I did today. I saw in their summary the discussion went far beyond the Voucher proposals topic, which was kind of secondary, but important too.
Where Matt seemed very serious and draw plenty of warning signals was on the importance of 3 future proposals Splinterlands will put forward at the same time, two for SPS DAO and one for the DHF.
He didn't specify when the proposals will be presented, other than they will be concomitant.
He also resisted the insistence and explained why won't the DHF proposal be put forth first and why aren't they asking for more funds from the DHF instead of the SPS DAO on the consideration the DHF is wealthier and Hive is benefiting greatly by having Splinterlands in the ecosystem.
He explained how he sees things separated, and that developing and maintaining the SPS infrastructure is the responsibility of the SPS DAO, and should have been all along, and admitted it was a mistake this wasn't made clear from the beginning how things will stand.
Therefore, the main proposal that will go to the SPS DAO will refer to taking over this responsibility. Basically, Splinterlands has 2 developers working on node validators exclusively now. They expect the SPS DAO to pay them (or hire someone else instead, but that's an unlikely solution) until the validator network is ready and then, until it becomes stable. Afterwards, at least some maintenance work will be required, unless the DAO wants more features built into the validator network.
If the DAO doesn't approve this proposal, the choices are that the two devs won't be paid anymore or they will start working on other Splinterlands-related stuff too.
Matt also described the current "temporary" situation of SPS as a "centralized database", and that node validators work completion is mandatory for SPS to succeed in the long-term.
The additional proposal for the SPS DAO is very likely to become profitable for the DAO as the previous 50-50% revenue split went in the past. This is not an exact 50-50% split, but the upfront payment requested from the DAO for 5 promo cards that will be coming will likely be less than the profit of the DAO from sales.
There were some numbers mentioned in the conversation, which may be the exact numbers that will appear in the proposals or not. We will see.
On the DHF side, the proposal will be to help fund the Splinterlands company, specifically. Matt didn't give a lot of details, but between the lines I understood this is going to be a big amount, thus why he might be expecting resistance. Nobody likes to pay, as you could see the SPS DAO doesn't like to pay either.
Matt will be at Hivefest in Croatia in September. I wonder if he'll create the proposals before of after that event. My guess is it will be after, so he will have the chance to talk face to face and present the facts to some big whales on Hive.
I ended my post about seeking recognition with "pay, if it's worth it". I guess we will soon find out some things about the relationship between Splinterlands and Hive. Maybe some priorities will be temporarily shifted. Maybe not. The amount matters a lot, too.
