Splinterlands - In the Spotlight: Djinn Oshannus

Hello Splinterlandians!

Today I have a new blog series on my account for you. It's called "In the Spotlight" and its aim is to introduce a single card.

For the start I want to look at probably one of the best cards in the game, and this card isn't that expensive. It is Dinn Oshannus.
I know, many blogs about this card are out there, but in my opinion this card is so insane good, doesn't matter on which level, that I just have to write a blog about it. Just a little spoiler for the start: I would recommend everyone to buy this card once, because it will help you in so many battles.
Have fun while reading this blog!

Djinn Oshannus:

For the start, let's look at the stats of the card:

Stats.PNG

Djinn Oshannus is a magic attacker, with some decent tank stats and abilities for an amount of eight mana.
He's actually on the first level a real game changer. With two magic attack, five speed, ten life and the ability void he can be used in many matchups and rulesets.

Leveling up this card, Djinn Oshannus won't get that much more stats but he receives two nice abilities, which power up his role as a tank. On the second level he gets phase and on the third level he gets forcefield. Especially phase with the combination of void make Djinn Oshannus tanking very well, when your opponent has some magic attack in his lineup.

Synergies:

In the next step I want to show you some cards of the modern format, which fit very well combining them with Djinn Oshannus.

  • Kelya Frendul

I think pairing Djinn Oshannus with the Chaos Legion summoner is very solid. He gives him +1 speed making him a bit more squishy and you take the +1 armour for matchups with some physical attack. Nothing more to say about it.

  • Bortus

Sometimes I don't choose Kelya as my summoner when I play Djinn Oshannus. Especially when you predict your opponent is playing some magic attack, Bortus can be a nice move, because -1 magic attack and the ability void is a really funny combination.

  • Ice Pixie

I litteraly love this little monster. When you don't have that much mana, you can use this guy for only two mana a have another magic attacker.

  • Kelp Initiate

You should often use Djinn Oshannus as a tank. But when you want another tank in front of it, your choice could be Kelp Initiate. He's not that expensive for two mana, but tank some nice damages and with its 5 speed he could dodge some attacks, while Djinn Oshannus is attacking from the second position.

Battles & Tactics:

Let's see how you can use Djinn Oshannus in battles. I have to say I can only play him at the first level, so I can't show you battles with the abilities he gets, when you leveling him up.

  • Low mana

In battles with low (up to 15) mana you can just choose your summoner and play Djinn Oshannus alone or with some other cheap monsters. Especially in the lower leagues this tactic is simple, but works very well.
In this following example, I just played him with the fiend as a little tank in the first position, then Dinn Oshannus, in the third position Ice Pixie for some extra magic damage and in the last position a litte meat shield for the back.
Although my opponent played Thaddius Brood with the -1 magic damage, I won the battle.

  • High mana

Not even in low mana battles you can use Djinn Oshannus, he is a beast in high mana battles, too.
In the following I play Diemonshark as a big tank with its armour stats, Flying Squid with the reach ability, Djinn Oshannus, Sand Worm for the backline with its massive attack, Deeplurker and Water Elemental in the last position with the heal ability.

  • Ruleset: Explosive Weaponry

With this ruleset giving all monsters the ability blast I really like to play fast monsters and preferable monster with magic attack, because they can't miss and they ignore armour. So Djinn Oshannus is perfect for this rulest.
In the following I play Kelp Initiate as a small tank, then Djinn Oshannus, Ice Pixie, Torrent Fiend and River Nymph.

Conclusion:

As I said in the beginning of the blog, Djinn Oshannus is an absolute must have card for every Splinterlands player. You can play this card in low, high and even in mid mana battles and nearly with every ruleset.
Right now you can buy this card on the market for around 3.15$, which is really cheap for the quality you get with Djinn Oshannus.

That was my first blog of the series "In the spotlight". How did you like it? I would be happy about every form of support in form of a comment or an upvote. For sure you can write things you don't like about this blog, too!
Thank you very much for reading, have some nice days!
