After I posted this article yesterday Private sale is betrayal of the players somebody contacted me with a rumour (unconfirmed, but allegedly coming from Aggro) there will be as many packs of Chaos Legion packs as Splinterlands team can sell to the big boys in "private sale" before the public sale even if that exceeds 15 million.
Does anyone have any more detailed knowledge of this? After all it would be unvise for the company not to take money from the customers if offered. Please write it in the comment, if nobody knows about it we will have to wait for the next AMA and hope they will clear the air. I will try to post it here if we get the answers.
Can you buy Chaos packs?
I am not against extra packs (in fact I suggested it in my linked article :).
If this rumor is true, you can, but according to this SteveR82 video, claiming he spoke to Aggro only if you have 100k USD or more or join a pool.
I can understand that thousands of players buying packs on day 1 could break the servers, so I understand the devs, but I think this mega pools are not the best solution - still better than no public sale at all though.
But some of these pools will be charging extra fees to let you in. And watch for the scams - it would not be the first in crypto.
Solution
If the team will really decide to increase the total number of packs, I still think giving 50 soulbound vouchers to every player registered before the presale would be a fair solution. They can even make the more expensive - 5 or 6 or even 10 bucks, just give every player a chance to buy some packs.
Open questions
What hapends with the bonus drop cards if all those whales buy in private sale? Will the largest whales get first drops or will everyone get all of them?
What hapens with the market if there will be 30 or 50 mill of packs?
Will people paying 20 usd for the vouchers in presale now feel cheated?
