Battle Mage Secrets - Odd Ones Out

Greetings Summoners! Welcome to Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules. This week the specific rule is "Odd Ones Out":

  • Only units with odd mana costs may be used.

  • Summoners are not affected by this rule.

This battle was played in a Splinterlands tournament where only the Chaos Legion and Rebellion editions were allowed to play. It was in the "Beginners Training Tournament by @Kryprogamers". This tournament has a novice format so only level 1 cards can be used. Let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 35 mana battle with 3 battle rules (Odd Ones Out, Stampede and Broken Arrows). All elements except Fire, Life and Dragon are allowed to play.

IconNameDescription
Odd Ones OutOnly units with odd mana costs may be used.
StampedeTrample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units. Higher HP and speed are the key in this ruleset. Dispel helps to remove Trample.
Broken ArrowsUnits with ranged attacks cannot be used.

Strategy & Tips

  • Use a powerful Gladius card.

  • A good tank and a balanced line up is a good idea.

  • To benefit as much as possible from the effect of our summoner, we will try to use as many monsters as possible.

  • Monsters with high speed are important. If we manage to kill an enemy monster before our opponent does, we will have a great advantage in the battle.

  • Units with ranged attacks cannot be used.

My Lineup

Along the Pembrook, a babbling creek that wends its way through the heart of the Maywaren Forest, there lives a creature so beautiful that a single look can drive one mad with desire. Long hair. Full lips. Perfect skin. She is queen of the river nymphs and a guardian of the ley lines and boundary between the Fey Plane and the Splinterlands, defending her charge from interlopers seeking to harness the secrets and magic of the fey for their own purpose. With her intoxicating water magic, she can bewitch and beguile others to do her will or call upon the fey to fight for her cause. Despite the boasts and jests passed around in taverns, the locals steer well clear of the Pembrook. Travelers passing through are warned to do the same. Most take heed, but a handful ignore these warnings, believing their will and their wits strong enough to resist the fey's charms. The majority come back with nothing to show for their efforts. However, every now and then, some unfortunate soul will return, babbling incoherently or spouting nonsensical poetry about passion and beauty and nature.

Pembrook Nymph: I really like this summoner as it gives +1 HP to all friendly monsters and the possibility to use an additional Gladiator card in battle.

Noa the Just: This card reduces the armor of all enemy units by 2.

Thanalorian Scion: Good magic card that can be used as a tank due to its HP and Armor. fssfdss

Merdaali Guardian: This card will help us to keep our tank alive as long as possible thanks to its Tank Heal ability, which restores a portion of the monster in the first position's health each round.

Isgald Vorst: Powerful Gladius melee attack card that every time she defeats an opponent she gets +1 to all stats. She is unstoppable.

Venari Wavesmith: This card gives +2 armor to all friendly monsters. I think it is very useful since none of our monsters have armor. Armor will allow us to resist more attacks from enemy monsters with melee and ranged attacks.

Water Caller: When this Monster hits a target, it has a chance to stun the target causing it to skip its next turn.

This was a great battle. My opponent played very well and with a very similar strategy. He is a very good player! I am happy with my victory and the strategy I used. I have won 100 DEC + 100 DEC in Kryptogamers Lightning Wallet for finishing 6th in this tournament.

Personally I like the Odd Ones Out rules since there are many powerful monsters with odd mana.
