Thermostat

Went down to the greenway this a.m to run the baby and was greeted less than favorably by what can only be described as an ineluctable chill. BRRR! Little early in the season for all that. Winter's coming in hot.

I try to keep at least a beanie and a pair of gloves in the car at all times. I can vaguely remember removing them in the middle of summer now.

So, I did what any other 21st century experiment who relies on their phone for life support would do in this situation—went to the App Store and downloaded a thermostat.

4n1/2 stars.

Not bad for 100+ reviews.

Grant camera access to the app—check. Aim device at current climate—check. Take a picture.

Check.

Now, in a few short words, describe your current climate to the in-app microphone and what you'd prefer it to be.

Little cold out here, I don't have a beanie. Can we warm it up a little, please?

'Little!' I said little like sweater weather, not wetter weather, dang!

No rain, just cold. 'Sweater - weather.'

Cold! Not FREEZING!!

Heat, stat!

IMG_9657.jpeg

Heat, not humid! Now it's heavy and palpable. Yuck. Surrounded by cicadas and crickets all over again.

Sweater weather, stat!!! Heavy dose of sweater weather like yesterday.

Too cold.

IMG_9659.jpeg

Too hot.

IMG_9656.jpeg

Way too hot!

IMG_9660.jpeg

Little cooler?

IMG_9662.jpeg

Tiny bit cooler?

Perfect!

Not bad for free. This is the lite version. Says the full version has a digital temp gauge, no voice prompts. Just enter your desired temperature in the full version and, Wa-la!

But I ain't paying no $1.99/month!
